How do these look?

Nothin' special - the Criterion speakers were Japanese imports sold predominantly by Lafayette Radio Electronics; they're serviceable but hardly "hifi".

The receiver's perfectly respectable (although I think the SX-626 uses the odd, polarized Pioneer speaker plugs - check to see if it includes a pair or you'll have to scrounge up a pair or MacGyver a solution).

Not a steal, but a fair price on some nice, vintage gear. The Criterions won't be amazing, but they'll be nice, like buying a pair of Utah's... and they look cool. The receiver isn't the biggest around, but again, it is a nice unit. For someone starting out, this would be a very good buy... especially, if you talk them down to $60 out the door!
