I love Mid-Century Modern!!
The white panels are not doors. They are just there to hide the framework.
If I move it, I'll take pics of the back but don't expect much.
When it comes to carpentry, I'm just a hack.
Happy w the record holder tho.

I value having nicely organized stuff and having rooms and furniture that look well put together (I once wanted to be an architect!). I'm actually a little but envious of other folks who have relatively small collections compared to mine as that stuff can be organized in a way that doesn't look so much like it's taking over the space that you're in. I have probably 1500 or so LPs and maybe 1200 CDs and both collections snake around my living room in various cabinets. I don't collect audio gear or lots of other things, but I am kind of a sucker for collecting music and books so there's lots of shelves full of that stuff...

I built my own Plywood-Age relic to store my records, because I hate reading spines, especially sideways, and would much rather flip through the records. For CDs, I'll read the spines, just not sideways, so I stack them instead.
The idea was that I could swap which boxes were on top, for browsing, but they stay where they are, for the most part. There were going to be doors, and further organization, but entropy is creeping in instead. That's OK. I'm nothing if not well-adjusted.

I used to have a bookshelf, now I have a tapeshelf... My books live in storage these days.
Still using the Ikea Expedit that I used for the books, but it's less than ideal -- it's perfect for 10" reels but wastes too much space for 7" reels. Still looking for the perfect solution, but no luck so far.

I used Benno CD units from ikea. The album stand I made about 35 years ago from a kit.
I also have some boxes of albums stuffed in various closets that I inherited from my parents collection in varying condition from near mint to "Yikes!".
Also there are CDs in a few bookcases here and there.
I have multiple sets of alpha separators for all media except my DVDs (some stored in closets as well as baskets).

I have two of these set ups along adjacent walls:
They are:
4x2 gloss white Kallax with underframe (legs)
4x white Bin-E browser bins from LPBin
2x 56" white ledge shelves from Wayfair
The two together hold my entire vinyl record collection of over 1600 records with a little room to spare. The 500+ most frequently played records are in the front facing browser bins for easy access/browsing. The remainder of my collection are stored in the Kallax cubes - all titles sorted alphabetically by artist.
I want to make a couple improvements before I will be 100% satisfied with the way they look. First, I want to paint the walls of the room and install new baseboards (the previous owner removed the original baseboards when refinishing the hardwood floors and never replaced them). I picked up some paint samples yesterday. The wall shown in the above photo will be painted Behr Healing Plant M350-7.
The longer adjacent wall (and the other two walls) will be painted Behr Lamplit MQ4-11.
I will also install some 2.5" "backspacers" in the Kallax cubes to push the records closer to the front of the cubes.

That's a stylish, efficient library that you have there... and I have to compliment your taste as I have most of the titles that are shown. Still, I have to question your numbers though. It seems that by the records shown that there certainly less than 1600. I just did a rough recount of my records, judging by how many 13" cubes that I have them in and it seems that I have somewhere in the neighborhood of 1600-1700 and I have far more space than what you have devoted to storage. By my count about a 100 records fit into a 13" wide space (which seems to be about the standard as cube type cabinet spaces for records seem to be just an 1" larger than the 12" record on all sides), give or take a few of course, depending on the number of gate-fold or larger records in a particular spot...

Perhaps you missed the very first sentence of my post "I have two of these set ups along adjacent walls:"
I counted 3 of the Kallax cubes and they average 75 records. The exact quantity will depend on the number of gatefolds and double albums. For the front facing browser cubes, I average about 65 records per bin. I tend to have more recent 180g and 200g reissues, including several 2x 45rpm albums from Analogue Productions and MoFi, in the browser cubes. Plus, I like to leave a little room to make flipping through the records easier.
16 Kallax Cubes at 75 per cube + 8 Browser Bins at 65 each = 1200 + 520 = 1720. So, like I said, enough room for my 1600 records plus a little left over for future purchases.

So mine are displayed in LMS/Material Skin, or MusicBee.

Sorry, my bad... looks like a nice solution then. That's a lot of records in a fairly compact space. I'm going to have to build out a bit more vertically than I have (I just have racks 2 high around the perimeter of the room) if I get many more records. Though I have no real plan, much less desire to grow my collection too much larger, I sometimes think about how much larger I would even consider going and that would be to make 3k... beyond that I feel like I wouldn't end up listening to enough of the stuff and too much of it would be just to collect and not listen to... and I hate that I idea. I justify the stuff because I actually do get around to listening to the majority of it...

The long wall in my room could easily accommodate another 4x2 Kallax plus 4 more browser bins, but I don't think I'll go there. My buying habits has slowed down considerably and have several duplicates I can either sell on Discogs or give to friends and relatives.

Yeah, I don't really think so much about radically expanding my collection as I don't really have too many titles in mind at any given time that I'm looking for. I know though that inevitably, I'll end up with more LPs though! At least a couple of times a month I find myself in front of a garage sale, flea market, thrift store or record store and I can't seem to avoid going in and browsing the bins...

Besides the peach crate I built this hodge podge setup. They weren’t initially intended to be side by side, but in my new room it’s how they fit…. At least by a stroke of luck the tops of the records are only a 1/4” different.
My Dad just built me this one for Christmas. I’ve asked him to build me another for my birthday! Their corners will meet perfectly and the lamp will still live between them. I’ve decided I prefer the taller three tier shelf because it’s narrower, not pricing into the room as far, and has almost exactly the same amount of storage space.

Everything stands up right on edge. Selection are in major groups, Classical, Jazz, Country, etc etc. having been a draftsman in another life I stack things where I read from the bottom up with reading A's on the left and progressing through the Alphabet by category to the right starting at the very top and then down ward to the next row. Doesn't matter if its Lp's as a group, CD, SACD, DVD-a as another group DVD as another group and finally Blue rays as the last group. All the cassettes, R2R tapes, video tapes, DAT's, el-casette, and Reel 2 Reel tapes are gone. As are 7 inch 45 rpm mono discs. 12 inch 45 RPM single discs are in their own group as there are only a few dozen. Laser discs are gone, too. The only exception is Telarc CD's. They are in numerical order left to right read from the bottom up, and shelved from the top down. I have a master catalog so I skim the catalog for what I want, look for the number and pull the disc out for play. Sometimes my Bennett, Sinatra, Miller, Winding, Torme' or Rich etc etc CD's are not in order so I may have to pull them all by each performer to find the one I want. Some times Directors can be scattered all over the place because everything is sorted by the composer and not the performer or conductor. Leonard Bernstein for example can be in some cases where he should be as a composer, but not as just the director performing Beethoven, Brahms, Bach, or Mozart for instance. Some times I wish I could also group recordings by the Orchestra rather than the composer or Director. Compromises compromises. Thats why I am cataloging everything on the computer, so if I want a Grainger recording by the Dallas Winds, the US Marine Band, or the Cleveland winds it easy to find. Maybe I want to find something conducted by Fennell or John Williams that they didn't compose. That can be interesting and frustrating too. Unfortunately music on the computer via iTunes can be a real hair pulling experience. I guess I am close to 500 albums by now. Some times Apple sorts thing by Date, or by Composer or by Performer. Then there are albums they consider as compilations.
