How many Johnny Mathis Albums do ya have?

You like Johnny Mathis? Good!

I don't have any and have not been inclined to get any. However, I would never dismiss it out of hand without giving it a try. I used to do that with the Boston Pops until I chanced upon a few good albums. I have many things that I never even heard of before that sound good to me. I was just recently spinning Father Joseph Dustin's banjo music. I like it and it's a keeper.

It has always been one of the greatest pleasures of used vinyl to give something a chance and to find that it fits the mood sometimes. If you like Johnny Mathis, then it's all good and :music:

I never found a reason to bring one home. :)

My Mother loved him though.

You beat me! .... Balls!

No kidding though... My mom has more Mathis LP's than you can shake a vocal chord at... His popularity has wained a lot over the last 20 years, but Mathis has plenty of fans out there, believe me... I love my Sinatra as well as Ben E. King and others.

8. Heavenly (1959)
9. I'll Buy You a Star (1961)
10. Johnny Mathis Sings (1967)
11. All Time Greatest Hits (1972)
12. The First 25 Years: Silver Anniversary Album (1981)
13. I Just Found Out About Love (?)
14. Johnny Mathis Sounds of Christmas (1963)

I have a copy of: Johnny Mathis, Columbia CL 887, 1956. "The Jazz album" was not a commercial success. It sounds a lot different than his later, more successful, recordings. Well worth a listen.

I also have:

Johnny's Greatest Hits, Columbia CL 1133. I listened to it this morning and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Johnny's Newest Hits, Columbia CL 2016.

I have a mint copy of his Christmas album, Columbia six eye to boot.
Couldn't pass it up for a quarter.
Grew up listening to him as my sister was a fan. She was much older than me back then, but I am gaining on her.:D

Probably about 10, including Heavenly; JM's GH; Warm; Open fire, 2 guitars.
When I was in the Air Force in 1964, guy upstairs had a record player, but only two albums: Johnny's Greatest Hits and Elvis' Gold records. He played them constantly, and I learned the words to almost all of the songs.
Also saw Johnny live at Misawa AFB in ~1966.

I think that I have two. I dig his voice and don't understand the dislike of him myself :dunno:

Have you started a Nat King Cole thread????
