How pass HDMI audio from Apple TV, etc. though AV Yamaha to vintage?

I have an old Yamaha RX-595 and some old speakers I would like to use occasionally. RCA in and outs only on the 595. No HDMI or optical. But the 595 does have AB, which is nice.

But the only place to do this is in the one room with my speakers and AV set up. All of that is hooked up to a Yamaha HTR-4065. Which, is not so bad either (except for the 1980s on screen interface and totally unreliable built in Airplay) but… the 4065 as no AB and a bit power weak for a set of audiophile quality speakers the 595 is much better/sharper at driving.

I would like to pass HDMI audio I am sending from an Apple TV (current model) as well as built in internet radio (the free Net Radio as Yamaha calls it) from the 4065 out of its analog outputs like Rec Out into the 595.

Will this work or, is the HDMI digital signal segregated/separate in the 4065 and cannot make it to the analog outputs after DAC conversion to the 595 unit?

Looks like you could output from the A/V Output jack to your 595. That should be a line level out, Then you would just have to select the source you want for Rec-out. Best way to find out what works is to try it.
