How to get into DIY stereo and turntable repair.

Long time visitor to the site but first time poster. Can you folks please recommend some good places to learn some basics of electronics? Other than cleaning pots and turntable maintenance I’m at a loss for any repairs or adjustments. I need some book or video recommendations that can teach me from the ground up. I’ve been spinning records and playing in bands for about 20 years so I know my way around a little bit. But I have a soldering iron and multimeter and in the future i’d like to try some recapping and repairs but have no idea where to begin with theory and whatnot.

The reason I ask this is because my technics sa5360 I’ve had the last 5 years has started causing the speakers to ‘pop’ audibly and I can see them move during power up and down. It doesn’t pop if I have the speakers off, power on the amp, wait for the relay and then power on the speakers after say 5 seconds.
I’m Wondering if I should take it somewhere for a little TLC and if its a sign of something going on. I don’t want to spend a ton on repairs because I know it ain’t worth much….just leave it as is ( once again, I know it’s not particularly desirable but it’s a decent daily driver I got for cheap and so I’m torn haha)…or….I start to learn more so I can make adjustments and repairs myself?!
Thanks and cheers eh!

Welcome to AK !!!!

Id say the beast place is right here !

Start a thread with your issues and many folks here will help you along.

But there are many videos on the tube that are specific to many things electronic repair.

need to learn about capacitors? Just search youtube for what you want to learn.
Transistor testing? Search that. Etc etc.

But here is a great place. AK members have been very helpful to many and so much knowledgeable

U-Tube videos are great, explore them till you connect with a few that explain basics in a way that provides understanding and you'll gain a foundation from which you will make practical application. There are some very good videos out there with great text and graphics designed to teach concepts and their application to components and circuits.
