AWESOME!

Off to find me some e-milk...

Sweet and congratulations. I bet is was less than the one on eBay this week, I was tempted to bid on that bad boy. Enjoy! :music:

That's a heck of a find! It's not only a gorgeous piece of gear, it's a great sounding amp.

It's not perfect, but certainly MY personal best score. I feel good about it too as a "personal assistant" for a wealthy couple was consigned to sell it and although I got it for a song, I didn't rip off some poor old widow.

There are some superficial scratches in the side panels and top, but worse is the 1/4" chip in the top edge of the glass about 3/4' from the right corner... :tears:

This is one piece I'm going to be calling Yamaha parts on to find out if there's any way to find that part. Unfortunately, I'd assume it's part of the entire front fascia.

The TX-1000U that came in the package for free appears to just need lamps. Some goober hot wired one side of the series pair and hooked both lamps to one feed, Doh! I have some 14V 80mA heavy duty lamps form our favorite lamp guy dgwojo going in tonight.

brutal!
I saw that CL ad about 6 hours after it was posted and, obviously, all the good stuff was already marked "SOLD". I live several hours outside of Denver, but would have jumped in the car and hightailed it down there, especially for the prices listed in the ad. I'm just glad a fellow AK'er got them. (Helps salve the just-missed-it burn) :)

Congratulations!!

Congratulations. :thmbsp:
That's one amp which has garnered a "thumbs-up" from everyone on this site(and probably many others)with regard to it's sound quality.
That's what we want.
The icing on the cake,is that the MX-2000 is the Grace Kelly of power amplifiers.Mighty easy on the eye. :D
Which combination of components have you partnered it with? :scratch2:

I thought I recently read a thread about another AK member that ordered the whole front piece from Yamaha on one of these. You might be able to order it but it will probably cost a bundle. Do a search and see if you can find it.

Very nice and congrats. I'm not familiar with the specs of that amp but judging it from the nudies, it certainly looks like she's all business.

Right now, for the initial checkout and giddy listening, it's in my home office with a C2a pre (that I resurrected from the dead) running vinyl from a Technics SL1600MkII and feeding a pair of JBL L112's. The soundstage and clarity are certainly a few steps up from the M-60 that has been pulling duty lately. Up until today, I've been using one of my older HT receivers as a control unit so I have something with remote volume control. As soon as I get the CX-1000 checked out and cleaned up, the 992 is being replaced.

I plan to lug the MX-2000 back downstairs and get it hooked up to my 250Ti's for an evaluation over the current setup of two bridged M-80's.

Damn thats a beautiful amp.
Sorry to threadjack, I just wanted to know, since you have experience with the M60, what do you think about it?
Do you think its a step up from today's 500 dollar surround sound receivers?

I think using an M-60 on your mains instead of the built in amp of ANY $500 HT receiver is a step up.

I run my main L/R 250Ti's on bridged M-80's from my RX-V3800. The M-60 doesn't have the brute force the M-80's do, but it's a sweet amp just the same. The M-70 is, IMHO, just ok, but mostly because I REALLY hate the lame binding posts.

BTW, I just can't get over how great the MX-2000 sounds. Now I know why everyone lusts after the MOSFET amps.
