I have seen (and heard) the "Audio Promised Land"

After attending this event, I don't even know what I can say. Pictures don't do it justice, the equipment was actually much bigger in person. It was the most amazing thing I have ever seen and heard. Startling clarity and volume. Dynamics "out the wazoo," and hard to stifle the desire to flee when it was really loud.

I had to leave early after the biamp setup and didn't get to hear the multi-amp crescendo. Kudos to Dave and his wife for putting his all into it (although a trip to basement revealed that is not "his all.")

The food, beverages, hospitality and effort were even better. Imagine the logistics required to stage this event. Literally, tons of equipment.

Thanks so much, Dave and Sharon.

The bar is set pretty high for the next one.

I will post some additional pictures when I can get to them.

Man, that looked like a darn good time! Sorry I couldn't make it, powerman. Mom's 83rd birthday took precedence, but I'll definitely try to be there next time around...

Great jumping Jehosaphat! :yikes: :boink:

Used to live up in DeKalb, prolly coulda heard it from there...

3 questions, did you run all those speakers together at once? how do they all sound together (do they blend good?), and how long did it take the cops to show up after initiating play mode? i thought i had big speakers, wow, i sure was wrong, those photos have left me in awe, one more quick question, did you build the horns yourself? (im talking about the largest pair, which appears to be 6-7 ft. + tall

Sheist, Wowie Zowie, and 132dB INSANE!!

And I thought my stereo played too loud. Those systems should be installed in an IMAX theatre.

Rick

Even WOW isn't enough, that's just nuts! :jawdrop: I've never used this smiley, :king: , but you're clearly the king of speakers (unless someone can show pics of even more?). :thmbsp:

Jeez! I wonder what the reading was at 1m!:nutz:

Add 20*log(40/3) = 22.5dB (3'~1m)

132 @ 40' ~ 154.5 @ 1m

That's not quite right because that is factoring spherical spreading and the spread from a horn isn't spherical so the attenuation due to distance isn't 6dB per doubling it's quite a bit less but dependent on the horn. But that's an idea.

All I can say is DAMN!!!You definately got it going on.Would love to hear some Hendrix on that setup.I need to look at that again.

Wow! Get that setup out in the country on someone's acreage with no neighbors within 2 miles, uh make that no neighbors within 10 miles, uhh, ok, the Alaskan Brooks range...

This is the one time I don't mind sounding like a 14 year old girl..Oh My Gawwwd!!!!. I start drooling just thinking about the l250's that is just a bloody amazing collection. Much kudo's to you. I wish I lived your way

One more photo from the event:

The cops arrive (the first time) and ask Dave (Powerman) to turn it down.

No wonder I couldn't hear them, the sound probably never made it further than Spooner, Wisc.
