I love Led Zeppelin, so who else should I listen to?

I would have to say Rush, Cream, AC/DC, Hendrix, Steppenwolf, The Allman
Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Van Halen, The Black Keys and any old Blues music
goes pretty well together.

How about the Led Zeppelin BBC sessions. That is a great cd! What about bootlegs? Does anybody have any info on good "unofficial" albums or tapes or cd's?

A lot of good suggestions, and some I'm not so sure about.:scratch2:

A short list right now would include:

Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac
Deep Purple
Mountain
John Mayall and the Blues Breakers
Cream
Blue Cheer
Jimi Hendrix
Foghat
Savoy Brown
Queen

The first LP I bought was Led Zepplin 1. One of the best albums of all time. Nor a bad song on it.

Lot's of good bands already listed by others here. I've been a Zep fan for 30 years. When you say you "love Zeppelin" you have to define it a bit better. Zeppelin was always known for the "light and shade" in their music. For the most part yes the mighty Zep is a rock and roll band, but Zeppelin III has a number of acoustic songs and In Through the Out Door was heavily dominated by John Paul Jones' writing and adding keyboards and strings to the music.

So, to throw out bands that compare to Zeppelin is tough to do IMHO. To suggest a few different albums from other groups would be more appropriate depending on what exactly about Zep that makes the hair on your neck stand up.

Without knowing what attracts you to the Zeppelin here are a few of my suggestions that have more of a Blues and R&R slant:

Robert Johnson
Son House
The Black Crows
Chris Duarte
Back Door Slam
Deep Purple
The Derek Trucks Band
The Firm
Johnny Winter
Free
Gary Moore
Joe Bonamassa
Lenny Kravitz
Pat Travers
The Screamin Cheetawheelies
Raging Slab
Alice Cooper
...and of course...The Knobs!

... and now, after a steady 30 year diet of Led Zeppelin, its a Lotta English folk. Check out Mellow Candle- very, very heavy in a Whole different way. Blues, Roots, Country- very Led Zeppelin. And of course, Sandy Denny and Fairport Convention.

Clapton / Derek and the Dominoes
ZZ Top
Possibly older Journey (up to Escape) and older REO (up to Hi Infidelity)
Van Halen
Black Crows

If you wanted to go modern, and simplistic (read: guitar and drums):

The White Stripes
The Black Keys

It cannot be said any better than that.

A friend likes to refer to Zeppelin as the "Worlds Greatest Cover Band" !

I love Led Zeppelin, so who else should I listen to?

Any of the blues masters that they ripped off. Start with Muddy Waters recording of Willie Dixon's "You Need Love" (which Plant and Page stole as "Whole Lotta Love").

Led Zep plus???

I've always heard tell that "Heart" was the female Led Zeppelin. I think the Yardbirds would be a good start, and who don't like Cream? But for me the 1970's Classic Rock one-two punch would be Led Zeppelin and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Your speakers will get a work-out there...

All I can say is WOW!!! I didn't expect so many answers so fast. I have a loootttt to check out now. Many of those recommended I have and just haven't checked out in a while or I regularly listen to, and twice as many I haven't even heard of until now.

Someone in this thread mentioned bootleg Zep tapes or jam sessions, where should I look to find something like that, it would be amazing.
