I couldnt imaging living without routers. I have a bunch from 3hp to little trim routers. Just depends on what needs to be done. The 3hp plunge routers swinging a large panel bit can be quite intimidating. Especially freehand work. Sometimes it is the most efficient. Other times its easy to make an quickie table for specific uses with a chunk of mdf and a straight board for a fence. Then there are times when only hand tools will do. Like making dovetails. Machine cut dovetails look so ... machine cut.
