Je me Souviens
This is the month to remember our Veterans from all the past Wars, and the one still serving all over the world.
The 11th is fast approaching, Veterans will be glad to see you at their ceremonies.

Thanks for the reminder. My dad and father-in-law were both vets. I used to call them every Nov 11 to thank them, but they died a few years ago. So, I make it a point to call a friend of mine who is a Vietnam vet and thank him for his service. He was a helicopter gunship door gunner for two tours there -- he re-upped for the 2nd -- still a serious badass.

I also call my mom each Nov 11 to thank her for keeping our family together while my dad was in Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam. (He was a grunt in WW-II before he met her. Guarded SS guys in an Austrian prison at the end of the war.)

Don't forget to appreciate the families of vets. They are typically in the background, but essential.

A thanks to all the AKers who served, and their families.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. As it is in English, thank a soldier! [sailor/airman (woman)]

Cheers, og/Dave :thmbsp:

For some reason, this topic/thread/whatever brings Sting's "Fields of Gold" to my mind...Pretty song that didn't get played to death.
