I haven't had a score in a while but I think this Pioneer PL-A35 and an SX-727 for $80 qualifies. It might not be a :jawdrop: deal but not bad considering.

Dust bug type brush and Shure M91ED with original Hi-Track stylus included.

I've wanted to play with a 25/35/45 series Pioneer for a while but have not managed to get one. This one cleaned up nicely after removing a wrapped-around-the-pulley-rotten-belt. I also had to get the main platter spindle unseized, but other than that it was mostly dust and dog hair.

Cleaning and a little lemon oil on the wood helps a lot.

And here is that SX-727 receiver. I oiled the cabinet and cleaned the knobs and face. I had to glue metal balance knob back onto the plastic insert. I will get inside soon to clean the guts and controls. It only has a minor case of the cracklies though.

I'm just cleaning up the PL-55X I obtained from VintagePlus and assuming all goes well, it will go to a friend for their son, along with a SA-6800 and a pair of Dynaco A25's.
 
All the lamps work including the meters in tuner mode. It looks almost new.

I might have to try sone different belts. I get a minor grinding noise on 33 but not on 45. Maybe the 23.6" belt I have is too wide? I am not even sure it is the right length but I had it ready and it seems ok.
 
When you clean the dustcover do you do it by hand or use some type of low speed polishing bonnet?

I recently picked up a bottle of Meguiar's PlastX for 3 tables.

I have a SX-727 myself, it in my living roorm paired up with my Dual 1219. My dad still has his 727 that he bought new in early '73. I paid more than $80 for my 727, and I had to do some cleaning, bulb replacing, & tuner aligning.
You did great!
 
The SX-727 is an "under the radar" receiver, mainly because it's relatively low-powered (37 wpc @ 8 ohms). But they sound remarkably smooth and full. It's what I use for my bedroom system.
 
I had an SX-828, one up from the 727, and an SX-737, the equivalent from the next series. These were my favorites among all the receivers I've owned. I'm sure the 727 would slot right in there with them. I especially like the up-angled dial on the face.

Wow. Dayum. Congrats.

On my PL-A35, the speed changing arm next to the pulley was rubbing on the belt a bit, and needed a slight bend to one of the guides. I posted the complete service manual for it over at VE.

I just looked at doing that, and tweaked it a bit. The best way to fix it though is to move the pulley up. I could not get the little set screw to move at first until I tracked down the right screwdriver and eventually it loosened. I moved the pulley up a couple of mils and it took care of the rubbing sound. I also found I had left some Q-tip fuzzies wrapped around it too so removing that did not hurt. If you work on the pulley be careful as it's possible to strip or break the head on the setscrew (yep I know!). There is actually a bit of a cutaway in the platform to help position the screwdriver.

I typically use Novus 2 and hand polish with the synthetic chamois they provide. This one was really good to start so it was all I needed. On the really bad ones I will hand wet sand with 800 grit and up paper, and in some cases will use a power tool to save my arm. I've got some super fine sanding discs and a variable speed 5" sander and a polisher/buffer that I sometimes break out. I have removed some VERY deep scratches this way.

Those are beautiful! Definitely a score. How do they sound?

Pretty good so far! I have not used speakers yet , just my AKG phones. I will Deoxit the controls in the next few days and hook her up to my main rig. :thmbsp:
 
I was thinking when I saw this thread "perfect combo to find under the tree in 1972". Set it up and spin some Christmas LPs.....

Have the 727 but not nearly as nice. They are beautiful receivers. That turntable is absolutely gorgeous. :thmbsp:

They look so good and work so well that you could imagine it was still the 70's. Except for the lack of bell-bottoms. :D
