ID on interesting local speakers--are they worth checking out?

To Soundmotor:
Triad is the brand for the other one as well, but I have included some more photos of the backside of the amp as well. I don't see any part numbers, only serial numbers. The serial number on the black transformer is 2655 and the grey one reads 7579.

To Aidynphoenix:
The only really cool speakers were in the big box--I took a few pics of the inside of the cabinets (pretty much empty), and then posted close-up photos of the speakers in the big box for further identification.

To JonL:
What might the little bit I need to get the amp going? :) Can you possibly help me with how you might turn a stereo source into a mono source and then be able to put it on a single screw post input with a ground wire as well? Thanks for any help!

I'm not expert enough to know for sure, but it seems as if you could replace the screw terminals with conventional RCA jacks - ground for the shell, positive for the pin. The preamp has two inputs... you could use one for left and the other for right and set the volume and tone controls to match the two channels which will get combined before the power amp... or you could use "Y" connectors on your source and hook two sources up, use the volume controls to select one or the other. Now, I'm not sure if the preamp is compatible with a line level source. It may have too much gain. It certainly won't be appropriate for a phono input without modification.

That Altec box was a really great find... Get that amp running, and you'll have you one hell of a mono system. I've never heard of seen a 415 biflex I'd like to see a picture of the front of that if you ever get to that point.

I'd bet those came off an Ampex studio amp.

Man am I glad a local AKer got those things, I was just dying looking at the pics on CL. Can't wait to give them a good look over! Nicely Done :thmbsp:

Got the amp up and running tonight! Ran it with a phono preamp I got from Amazon, my ELAC Miracord TT and a Marantz Imperial 6 speaker I pulled in from the garage. Fun times! It actually sounded pretty good, and it was surprisingly easy getting all the connections set up (I found some old RCA cables that I savaged into something workable). I spun some Billie Holiday "Lady In Satin," sat back on the couch with some bourbon and thoroughly enjoyed myself. Something cool about the glow from tubes, as well as the antiquity factor of the setup that made it all sound that much more authentic. I posted about it in more detail over in the Tube Audio forum here:
