It looks spectacular in the picture, I'd love to see it in the real world!Yes, it is... taken in the parking lot of our local Rosa's Mexican food cafe.
I looked for just the 'right' car for five years. When this one popped up for sale, I bought it sight-unseen out of Orange, CA. I've had it for nearly six years, and it still amazes me every time I drive it.
It's much nicer in person than the photo. Consistent winner of best-in-class or first overall in local car shows and two Porsche Club of America "people's choice" concourse.

I'd admire both your choice of automobile and the tenacity it took to continue driving. We have automatic BMWs in our fleet now because of my wife's arthritic knee which pales in comparison to your accomplishments. I've been a fan of the Bovensiepen family's work for decades and I'm sure you enjoy the story behind their logo's "coat of arms" as much as I do. I've met and interviewed both Andy Bovensiepen and the designer of the Z8, Henrik Fisker. Both wonderfully talented people. That, BMWCCA, is one of the reasons for my selection of the Alpina Z8, as I had to/can only drive an automatic, being that I`m partially paralyzed with the non functional left arm/hand and the limited left use of that side leg/foot, thus the DMV dictated restrictions/conditions on my driver`s license after being DMV tested/recertified in the spring of 1982, which also indicate the use of a steering wheel knob.
Back when I was a Porsche dealer (1976 to 1995) I ordered both "Turbo Look" and "Slant Nose" 911s for customers, most of which had a long list of Workshop One options including Dr. Furman seats. Wonderful cars! Here's mine... 1987 Porsche 911/M491. There were 62 made, this one is number 40. It looks like it was made this morning!
Well, if you are ever in the Fort Worth area, let me know... you would be very welcome!

Nice thread.
I've owned a few german wagens, a Manta, Jetta, Golf and 2x Mercedes-Benz.
I no longer own the blue 190E, sorry I sold it really.

I think if budget was without limits a Porsche Panamera would be hard to beat.
My neighbor had that exact car years ago, absolutely outstanding example of cool on four wheels. Here you go

Ex is driving that same Benz in red. I borrowed it one afternoon to run in town around Smith Lake AL, fun roads. It was actually fun to drive, you could load the suspension up pretty good, way more fun than I assumed.View attachment 2330260 View attachment 2330261
This is my 2019 Benz GLA 250 4Matic.
Had one pass me about 2 years ago and while behind it, all I could think of was how good the tail end looked. Then about 2 weeks later, I saw one in a parking lot. So I checked it out. After about 4 months internet research, I finally got me one. I like the fact the oil filter is on top of the motor. So I do my own oil changes. That saves me alot of money. Yes I have an oil pump. Bout time for a wax job.

My neighbor had that exact car years ago,
Was it, in fact, a numbered Z8 "Alpina" ?
The Z8 Alpina was only available in 2 colors, either Black or Silver, with several wheel pattern style options.
Whereas the USA built Z8 was available in a handful of paint color options.
Do you happen to know whatever became of your neighbor`s Z8 "Alpina", justgotohm ?
Just curious, Sir.
And thanks for the compliment.
David, you know the worst thing for a car is just sitting. That 5 series of roadworthy could be on my rent to own list. Assuming I could afford to purchase her!
I know Bill knows the difference, but what he said implies that the non-Alpina Z8s were built in the USA. That's not correct. All Z8 aluminum frames were produced in Plant Dingolfing where every 5-series had been made since the beginning of the series. Final assembly was completed by hand at BMW's main plant in Munich.Whereas the USA built Z8 was available in a handful of paint color options.
