I recently ordered an IFi Zen Can to use my Audeze LCD-2 (pre-fazor) with my McIntosh MX110z. The McIntosh doesn’t have a balanced output but I found an RCA cable that goes from an unbalanced RCA connection to a balanced 4.4 Pentaconn.

I’m a little confused about the balanced input on the IFi Zen Can and if this type of unbalanced to balance connection would even make a difference. I had read that a balanced connection to the Audeze LCD improves the sound and was curious to try and wanted to see if anyone else had tried this or had any feedback as I’m really new to the headphone side of the audio world.

The RCA's are there just for convenience if you need to connect a component that has only unbalanced output, like a CD player. Don't worry too much about it, the difference in SQ between balanced and unbalanced is barely audible except for use with ultra-high-end esoteric equipment such as Moon By Simaudio or Mark Levinson
