Improve speaker performance with bi-wiring?

I had good luck bi-wiring my Infinity RS 2.5's, but bi-amping with and external crossover was the hot ticket! Well worth the extra expense of buying an external crossover and cabling.

From the internet articles I've read, the science is supposed to be the reduced distortion effects from the woofer back EMF on the other drivers. Should be cleaner sound on the mids and highs supposedly. I guess different speakers will be impacted differently depending on xover design and a myriad of other reasons.

If there's back EMF from the woofer, it's going to show up at the other drivers unless you run separate amplifiers. Bi-wiring doesn't do an awful lot other than to get you to spend more money on speaker wire.

Yes, adding another identical set of speaker wire will reduce the resistance, but it's usually better to just go with one thicker set of wires. (Even 16 Ga. wire is overkill in most cases, so using 2 sets of expensive large gauge wire isn't likely to do much of benefit.)

Bi-wiring

Hi folks

I bi-wired for my main system 50 foot speaker run. My wife wanted the equipment in a different room than the speakers. I can't say that it makes a difference but, on shorter runs with my other system where it's easy to connect and disconnect, I can't hear a difference.

I'm curious about bi-amping. What kind of external crossovers are people using?
