Improving speaker WAF through fake nameplating

Actually, taking two previous ideas, I think this would be better. Install new speakers. Attach a phony Manolo Blahnik nameplate. The ensuing conversation:

"Yes, you haven't heard? Manolo Blahnik is now designing speakers"

"They must be expensive"

"Yes, they are. They are. But it's a pair of Manolos!"

"Yes, that's true. They sound simply luscious!"

That's kind of how it works in my house, I keep building more shoe racks for her to fill and I get a closet to fill with more equipment to play with. :D
 
Hmm... my ex's favorite audio source when we lived together was my old Blaupunkt table radio, and she agreed with my assessment that my grandmother's old Pilot tube receiver was head and shoulders above any of the more modern gear that we had laying around, including my HK 330c.

She also pretty much appropriated my old Porsche 944 for "her" car and left me to drive the pickemup truck...

I would say that she actually has pretty good taste in many things, but that would lead me to conclusions that I don't want to think about...

You don't suppose the reason why wives do not like large speakers is that they have a racial memory of having to live in mud huts that size back in the Neolithic times. It's a thought anyway. ;)

That would explain why my "Wattle and Daub" line of speakers never caught on.
 
My wife quite enjoys my little L10s...but has mentioned my laxitude in getting the Altec Model Nines refurbed. "I'd sure like to hear those again!" There's an SX-950 in need of TLC out in the garage...think it would do the big Altecs justice.

Another winter project.

Years ago my wife drove a '70 Dodge Dart 4-door for a year or so. The joke was it was her "Seville". A friend of ours worked in a Cadillac body shop and brought her a Seville hood ornament that came off a wreck. She wouldn't let me put it on.......:scratch2:

(A few years later, I bought her a '79 Seville - a real one)
