Improving speaker WAF through fake nameplating

the no waf speaker thread has given me an idea.

for all of you married guys out there, here is a test to try. print off a BOSE nameplate somehow or make a good fake and attach it to the grilles of your underWAF speakers. then tell your wife, "look honey at the BOSE speakers i got for us."
i dont know why, but BOSE always seems to have high WAF. maybe it will get some waf back into those maggies, la scalas, etc.. massive speakers that are "never going in the living room."

worth a shot. lets see what happens. im not married or id probably have an all "BOSE" system already.

Both of my ex-wives were well aware that Bose speakers are not, "all that and a bag of chips". The first wife liked Magneplanars more than the ESLs that replaced them. The second wife on more than one occasion said my ESLs sounded better than anything else she'd ever heard.

Women generally have better hearing than men. The few who actually care about sound quality will almost always choose other than Bose when they have had the slightest bit of education regarding speakers.
 
Marry a singer is my advice. A friend's wife is fine with the washing-machine sized speakers we made him, just because they sound good.
 
Look honey bun. I got us a sensible Honda.

Obviously you are not married; otherwise you'd know that a sentence along the lines of "look honey at the <any speaker you care to name> speakers i got for us." is fraught with risk, once you already have, um, a few pairs of speakers.

Also, my wife isn't stupid.
 
You'd be better off putting an empty Minolo Blahnik (spelling?) shoe box with some cash in it on top of your new speakers. "Before you go shoe shopping honey, I want you to listen to these speakers for a while" ought to do it... :)
 
As always, the only/best way to deal with the Wife Acceptance Factor is to have an accepting wife.
 
I am lucky in the sense that my wife has never complained once about any speakers I have set up in the den. Even on occasion 2 or more pairs being a/b'd. She would be just as happy listening to my big Infinity's as she would listening to a Bose Lifestyle setup.

I some how think, that for most others wives, putting a Bose sticker on the speaker would not make a difference. If they do not like big honking speakers, nothing will fix that.
 
My wife is great, we've been married 37 years and in every place we've lived and after every remodel, the stereo goes in the room first. She knows it's all about the sound.

Too late...
My wife now knows almost all the brands I have and how they look and sound.
When I started on this hobby and had listening sessions with her, her answers were something like this:
"That small one sounds good".
"That tall one is very dull".
"That old one is good but vocals are behind music". etc...

Now she says, "That Boston sounds great".
"That EPI is good for vocals but there is no details on music".
"I like the tall Definitives". :D
