Infinity Crescendo CS-3007 restoration

That's an unusual problem. I assume you mean you moved the speakers to the opposite sides of the room, correct? If you just swapped wires, it could be something about the room itself.

Yes, I physically moved them to the other spot in the room and ran the setup mic on both a Yamaha RX 675 and Denon, same issue. Could it be a cap issue and for whatever reason the testtone frequency isnt playing as loud on one of the speakers?

Could be a cap issue; I'm not sure if all frequencies get equal weight when testing.

If you place the speakers side by side, and run them in mono, can you hear any difference when switching between them?

not to argue, but I've never EVER blown an EMIT, and I drive mine with anything from 10 wpc to 350 wpc. most of the time you are pushing far less then 10 watts to the 3007s.

signed current owner of 2 pair of CS 3007, 2 pair of cs 3009, one pair ren 90, one pair kappa 8.1, one pair rs 4, one pair Qa, two pairs infinitesimals .3/.4.

midrange foam is still good on all speakers.
Not to bring up old news...apologies if I'm too late for the party...but the 3007's I got about a year ago,the tweets blew within a week of having the speakers...no power surge,no DC pulse, driving them with an Onkyo A 7090,one of three I have..great sleeper amps..@110wpc,conservative ..which has never blown any speaker in the 10 years Ive owned this one...But they certainly blew ,within hours of each other..I replaced them with the grey tweets I had from some RS6B I had that needed some love ...just temporary, until I could source new ones ...and did not have any problems,in fact I ordered more of the same grey tweets to replace the originals and have been listening to them fine ever since...they sound great...I am naturally curious and know my way around speakers, and am not afraid to test and find solutions..so I cant figure why they blew..and i dont buy into coincidences ...something was not right with the pair I received..anyway...just thought I'd throw that out.

of the now three pairs of 3007's that I've had come my way, one pair is still at my brothers, one pair is sitting currently unused in my spare room, and the third pair, both the tweeters and the woofers were destroyed, spiders on the woofs were toast, foam (of course) and the tweeters let the magic smoke out the first time I tried to use them.

So, I'd venture a guess that yours were abused at some point in their thirty year history.

None of my emits from my two pairs of 3009, or my two pairs of infintesimals have toasted, nor from my8.1 that have gone to another home, nor the 6.1 that my other brother still uses daily (and I bought brand new in the early nineties), and afaik, there was only one emit-r, regardless of the faceplate on the kappas saying 'kappa'

hope this helps!

I still think the 3007 was the 'sweet spot' in the crescendo line, small enough, yet the bass was good enough for most usages.
