these plate amps can get pretty hot without much ventilation

it is in a ported box with a woofer pumping in fresh air, but it might still get too hot. See there is that BS comment again!!

Thank you all for your assistance, sometimes things look different the next day and that seems to be the case for me here. Not that I'm sure this is right, but... looking again at this schematic, in the upper right corner are the plus and minus wires heading to the speaker which is where the destroyed cap is. there is a cap there in spot c117 that is listed as 22uf 50volt. having looked that up that seems like it might be a good fit. based on the little black plastic disc with 2 little metal tabs protruding from it I do believe this is an electro cap and not a ceramic one, as well as blurry picture I mentioned in original post. If someone would grab a look and see if that makes any sense that would be great. I think it also follows that the little yellow egg shape is a cap repeatedly seen across the schematic and would be the 0.1uf cap, which also gives some credibility that the 22uf 50v would live in that spot. Regardless a second set of eyes on this would be great also if this turns out to be correct is there a trusted brand I should look for when purchasing?
