Infinity IL60's still worth it?

Raptor727

Newbie out to collect!
I have seen how they play incredibly flat just curious as to what they sound like, looking for opinions I have a chance at a set with working plate amps for a decent price. I currently have the Primus P363's and pc351 and enjoy them but find them lacking often having to reposition them to try and satisfy the "itch".

Just curious if anyone still runs these monsters and still enjoy them, I guess I am trying to justify the investment as I find myself contemplating the long drive to pick them up. I see everywhere how all seem to agree they play flat but mixed reviews on actual listening time. I hope this is the correct section and look forward to any and all opinions thanks.

How do you mean? Are they bland sounding or something that can be worked with? I like a project to get good sound if it can be had with a little work I don't mind. By the way they come with IL36 and two IL10's so might try them for a living room surround
If you're easily bored and need to scratch often I would not recommend.

I also have an opportunity for some JBL L890's but figured the Interlude were the better option but no experience with either obviously

did you get them?

The trip will suck but I don't mind driving especially for a good deal

well, well, well, and i though i was crazy for driving 6 hours for a pair of speakers :dunno:. now i know i'm not crazy, well, maybe we're both crazy :beerchug:

if you get them and the tweeters are dead, i have the info you need for a new one. i ordered two from infinity today. the il60 launched in 2000 :yikes:.

i really hope yours will be good and you'll enjoy them. good luck on your trip. fyi, gas is completely out at some gas stations though.

with my dead tweets, the best sound i could get out of them was with these settings:

sub input - speaker
low pass filter - on
bos - off
frequency - 15 clicks clockwise
level - 15 clicks clockwise
width - 5 clicks clockwise
avr - 80hz

I'm impressed they still have parts on hand for them good to know, and thanks for the info for setting them up I'll give it a go. And yes plenty have called me random names for driving a day for good deals but I have always wanted a pair of IL60's for years so it's worth it to me since he sent plenty of pics of amps working and condition of everything.

Ill be sure to upload pics Sunday if I remember looks like it's going to be a rainy drive for me so wish me luck lol.

So 700 miles down and a broken foot on one tower I got them home but not without breaking the foot while loading just my luck!

Didn't realize they were that fragile, although they did come with the R.A.B.O.S surprisingly

Absolutely fantastic thus far, can't wait to use the rabos to see if it tames the subs a bit, I think I have them set correctly sit down and am right back up again adjusting the level down lol they have some output for sure

I can't belive the IL 36 is as big as it is that was a shocker, so far super impressed with it all haven't tried the IL10's as of yet though

But man the balance in sound is amazing the vocals and midrange just sound "right" is all I can say no tuning needed so far, once I get the subs tamed I expect to be pleased for a long time with these. Sorry I'll quit ranting now just happy to have this sound come from my room for once lol.
