Here are both speakers with 4 coats of wipe on poly. Will let 'em rest for a few days to dry and cure...

Thanks for the thread OMI, and the detailed photos and step by step. Makes me want to attempt just such a thing with my beleagered JBL L46's.

Top notch work. :thmbsp:

well, omes-- i completed the disassembly of one unit last weekend, then it was back into the work week, and then this weekend, i am competing in a regional master's swim meet-- thus, way too...hammered to do anything else when i get home. also still need to order my veneer and ****....thanx for axin' and maybe you can again every now and then, just to keep me honest

I had another thread where I refinished a pair of JBLs. The cabs were in good shape, but there was water marks on the tops and the finish was shot... The pics were lost in a server melt down.

I just removed the drivers and sanded the cab down. You just dont need to use a power (belt) sander... One of thoes B&D sanding mouses will work, but you still need to make sure that you do not go too deep and get past the wood veneer... Hand sand ALL the old finish off and go from there... Looked like they just came out of the show room when I was finished..

Replacing the grill fabric is also a must... That goes quick and is not too hard...
