Hi, I saw a pair a Infinity RS-425 speakers for sale near me in near mint condition. Does anyone have any experience with this model? What are your thought? Thanks

I had the 525's for close to twenty years. They aren't the most precise speakers around, but that polycell tweeter can be listened to for a long time without any fatigue. That era or the RS line (425-625) was nice. Kind of like an OK looking girl or a dependable stationwagon... they won't ever get a lot of compliments and envy from others, but they'll never let you down.

Well, I've had three pairs of the RS-325, a real overachiever. A couple of yrs ago I was lucky enough to snag a NOS pair in the blonde oak still sealed in their factory boxes. Gifted them to my son and he's been rocking them for two yrs now without a problem. Very efficient little speaker that has much more bass than its size would suggest.

The 425 seems similar except the 325 has two forward facing ports where the larger 425 has a passive radiator. Not sure how they would compare to the 425 but I like them a lot, not sure if this helps any.

I will add this, if the same bass driver is used it will need to be refoamed if not already done. They usually last about 10yrs, unless still sealed in the factory boxes it would appear.

I've had two pairs of the RS-425s throughout the years, thought they were a good bookshelf speaker needing stands to sound their best (ymmv depending on room acoustics). I always found another pair of something that caused me to throw them over for. But a solid speaker nonetheless and worth it to me to refoam (self), but then I never paid more than $20 for them. I would think even a mint pair would be of the age to need refoaming. What is the seller asking for them?
