Infinity wave transmission line column speaker

I am getting a pair this weekend. They need some work but they are in pretty decent shape except for the foam and missing one badge. I have a pair of Heil ESS 1B's that i absolutely love, but I couldn't pass these up for the price. Does anyone have info on what I am getting into? These have 3 sections but all the ones i have seen online are 2 sections. Any help would be great!

It's called the Black Hole of HiFi.

Looks like they used rubber cement on the surrounds. I'd guess it should be one of the easier mistakes to clean up after.

My McIntosh XRT 20's had something like that on the surrounds, but it peeled off super easy.

Don't know wtf these things are, very peculiar, but I cannot wait to hear about their sound. Might be something really special.

Yikes, if this is truly an otherwise unknown Infinity prototype, it would pay to be very careful with the restoration. Is there any documentation with them?

Stacked WTLCs? Looks like they took the tops of a second pair and added them to the bottom.

I will enjoy this restoration job. The guy said the bottoms are hallow and the base swivels. I know they have a downward facing lower woofer. They look similar to my ESS AMT-1A's

It looks as if the previous owner had an extra set of speaker grills and stacked the WTLC's on top with the down firing woofers firing into the grills.
Looks unwieldy and bass extension might suffer with lack of floor interaction

That's kind of what I was thinking (custom build). In part because there are two Infinity logos on each tower, does not seem like that would be OEM.

I think you are right that someone used the grills, turned them upside down, put swivels on the bottoms and elevated them for listening. As you can see from the pictures they put a small orange cone to help the bass? I just picked them up today i can't wait to start the refurb....

That "mid-range" is not a midrange but is a tweeter implemented with a super tweeter, the Walsh driver.
The midrange is the upper woofer duty and rolled off naturally

That make a lot more sense. Although, the Infinity tech sheet identifies them as tweeters in the parts list but mid-ranges in the schematic.

Yes they do. This is how I bought them with second set of speaker covers turned upside down and they add swivel plates to turn the speakers. The pictures with the orange cones stapled inside are what was used to deflect the bass????
I have to figure out if the woofer is directly on the floor or needs some elevation. I hooked up one they way i got them and it sounded pretty good with the funky foam job someone did to them. I don't think I will put those on the bases they came with any suggestions would be appreciated.
