I was going through my grand dads things and I found an altec lansing heath kit 15 in speaker and horn. the speaker number 401-149 and the horns is 401-150 so im assuming its a set. there both in perfect condition. the horn also has h-811b on it as well. I was told by the person who referred me here that there rare. im wondering what a value would be for them

Sentimental or monetary? if monetary do you plan on selling them? if so have you tested them to confirm they are in correct working order and are able to prove that to a potential buyer?

What market do you plan on selling them in?

Selling speakers is not as easy as one would think so don't get your hopes up too high based on "the person who referred you here that they are rare" or confuse what they might go for on say a large online auction site as opposed to your local are market FB marketplace, CL etc.

For example:

"Wow I would never of guessed these go for so much $$$$$$$$ on eBay. I'd really like to get that money but I've never sold on eBay plus I hear they take a pretty decent fee for using their service and that it is a pain in the neck what with all the packaging, shipping, insurance, hoping they arrive at their destination not damaged from transit. If they do get damaged from poor packaging or a delivery driver having a bad day kicking them off the back of the truck I'd have to deal with a fortune 500 company's claims department. F that! who needs the aggravation plus I'm busy I'll just list them locally as I should easily get the same amount in my local area."

That's exactly his point. If your buyer is Japanese, they tend to pay very high prices for Altec drivers and horns, in good, working, condition. If you are an ebay seller, and not willing to ship overseas, like the many sellers who are not, then the likely return will be less. Since shipping these is somewhat more complicated than chucking them in a cardboard box, with some paper or styrofoam peanuts, many sellers want to stay local. That choice is a crapshoot, depending on the market in question. So, you see, they might be worth comparatively high dollars, to substantially less, depending on your choices.

If you want to elaborate on your choices, the knowledgeable folks will be better able to give you an estimated selling price range.
 
You can do a search on ebay. For the 401-149, no sold listings appear, but you can buy two for $400 plus $70 shipping. That is a starting point for your valuation. Search the other items as well. Report back what you find and ask if those valuations are in line with people's experience.

If you were local to me, I'd offer you $75 -- max -- for the speaker. It would be a gamble as I don't know if it is working. Speakers can be repaired, but that costs money.

ive looked on ebay and am becoming frustrated lol thats normal though. I dont know anything about this stuff and its taking up space. do you think 100 for the pair would be a good price
 
This looks like parts for the Heathkit AS-101. $100 for the pair in perfect condition is too low. These are probably equivalent to Altec 416 woofer and 802 horn driver with 811b horn. All working correctly will fetch at least $500 and should be closer to $800. IMO $75 max is a very low ball price. You have a nice set of components there.

Oops my mistake. I thought it was a pair. Sorry.
 
there really worth that kinda money? there both like new no scratches. the only thing is that a little tiny bit of the center cone on the speaker is indented but other then that there flawless
