okay so what does just one of each run on a normal scale

I'm not a jerk and not trying to be a jerk just trying to help you out, there is no "normal scale". Where do you plan on selling them? CL, eBay, FB marketplace,

What you might get for them in Portland, OR could be totally different then what you can get for them in Portland, ME and you see what someone would pay in Birmingham AL.

FYI my original example was a cautionary tale to not get your hopes up too high and not directed at you personally.

Ok now we are getting somewhere. Altec Lansing is highly thought of and sought after in the vintage speaker community, fwiw Lansing went on to create a company called JBL, also highly thought of and sought after in the vintage speaker community, the L being Lansing J & B being first and middle initial.

Heath was an electronics company that at some point had an agreement with Altec Lansing to have AL supply them with the parts for their speaker cabinets possibly kits. Which is why it says what it says on the horn and the driver.

See links below for a general idea, I'm not saying these are exact just a very close proximity.

We have a dedicated section here at AK devoted to all things Altec, Lansing, JBL etc and is a great resource of info. If you do stop by just don't ask for value.

So selling locally your best bet would be to hope that there is someone in the greater Portland area looking for parts to complete their set, maybe someone who is good with woodworking and looking to build a cabinet for a mono set up. Make sure you are upfront about if they have been tested or not a little honest goes a long way as opposed saying they work without them having been tested.

I would suggest researching the model #'s, tons of info here, online, especially at the lansingheritage site. Then check out completed sales on ebay being sure to factor out the shipping costs and then price them about 15% to 17% less then what you would see them go for on eBay.

I hope this helps, one last thing maybe message one of the moderators and ask them to change the title of your thread indicating something like "Altec Lansing speaker value" as opposed to inquiry. You'll probably get a lot more replies and knowing me more knowledgeable ones.

Get a subscription to AudioKarma and sell them on Barter Town after following Dswankey's advice. That's where buying and selling happens on AK.

Judging by the OP's messages I really don't think he cares one bit about the history of Altec and simply wants a valuation. Test them and if working put on ebay for 500 or best offer, you'll soon find out what people are willing to pay. Fb marketplace isn't the right venue to get top prices imo.

@Dazaa

Understood about the history lesson, a little overboard on my end.

I'm not sure he knows how to test them and I don't think eBay is the direction he wants to go.

ive looked on ebay and am becoming frustrated lol thats normal though. I dont know anything about this stuff and its taking up space. do you think 100 for the pair would be a good price

Primary prohibition:
ANY discussion or mention whatsoever, no matter how subtle, of anything that you intend to sell, or anything in which you have any involvement is absolutely forbidden. As in every AK forum, off-topic rants, thread-crapping, and showing lack of respect for other members will not be tolerated.

Just to make sure there is no misunderstanding: THIS IS NOT EBAY. If the only reason you’re here is to attempt to drum up interest in things you want to sell, or to get information about things you want to sell, and you have no personal interest in the love of music or the equipment used to play music, leave now.
