Integrated Monoblocks?

They look to be PA/sound reinforcement, not hifi amps. They'd probably be OK in hifi service, but one could do far better (e.g., the output transformer bandwidth is probably pretty limited)...

Actually Grommes made excellent amplifiers that are very desirable. You could do a lot worse and I would dicker a little, but at $300 you would prolly both be happy. BTW the Tung Sol's sound great....

For the price could I do better though?

The OPTs do look to be decent sized, so who knows? PP 6L6 is good for about 20 watts. Do you specifically want monoblock integrated amps?

At the moment, there are a pair of PP 6V6 Grommes OEM monoblock integrateds sitting in my living room (picked 'em up at NEARC in Manchester last weekend), interestingly enough :-)

Personally, I would look for mono's that were just amps, and no intergrated on them... I love great old PA mono's but I'm not so fond of the ones with the intergrated parts on them..

They might be hi-fi. He mentioned that they have magnetic phono inputs, although he states that they don't work properly.

It would be great to hear them just to see. The best tube sound I have ever heard was a restored pair of heath W2`s. Another amp I regret selling.

What do you guys think of this?

These could be great, certainly some of the similar Dukanes & Bogens are. Or they could be PA grade and no more. You'll only know when you get them. I guess you have to ask yourself, is your heart set on PA monos? You might consider a Dynaco ST70 for about the same money if not. It will need some work most likely but it is a know quantity.

I would love an ST-70 but I don't see them at the 350 range ever on the 'bay.

There was one (an ST-70) for 350 at NEARC last Saturday :-P

The stock ST-70 needs a lot of TLC to not sound like a toob amp (in the worst sense of the words), though, if'n you ask me.
