Interesting article , i tend to agree with

Just so folks know where I stand on these topics,
High end cables, cables can make a difference some can hear it others can’t. It was the 12ga copper replacing the free with speakers lamp cord that showed the difference for me. Other cables maybe not as easily discernible. If you got money get what you want, if you don’t, hope you can afford the ones that sound best to you. If you can’t hear the difference, lucky you, financially, when it comes to cables.

Records do sound better than CD but CD or digital is technically better, no pops, clicks, software damage to the record making noise making folks think the CD/digital is better. But with the record there is more fullness to the sound. Ain’t gonna change. Musically records are better, technically digital is better. Play what you prefer. If it is a tune I like, I’m not gonna complain about either one.

Haven’t done cable lifters.

Upgraded power equipment, yes it is an improvement. AC receptacles that clamp the cord tighter, power cords that flow more can make differences. I had 2 Hafler DH-200s plugged into switched outlets on a 1000W capable unit. Only using one channel of each Hafler, sort of dual powered. Moved the amps to the wall outlet and the system had more oomph. Never looked back. There is something to having a big chunk of copper feeding the amps in a system. Maybe that 12ga power cord is storing more electrons closer to the amp than the standard 18ga. I don’t know, I like improved power cords.

Burn in is real. Depends on the components but I installed Clarity MR caps as the coupling caps of a tube preamp and it sounded like crap I could not listen to it. Tried it a couple days later still shite. Then another day or two (all done without leaving the unit plugged in and on) and I left it playing when I went grocery shopping. About 90 minutes later I come home and open the door which allows direct look into the sound room and the speakers and I said, what the hell happened to the sound. It has transformed to very listenable. The owner of the preamp said it got better for another 6 months, small changes that he could hear but I probably could not by the end of the changes. Other stuff, never heard a difference.

I don’t MQA
I don’t DAC but I have one and my CDPs sound very close to the DAC so not used, yet.
Hi-res, I expect there is a point. I burned a disc at 320 and it is not listenable compared to the good stuff of lossless. Heard old BT and it sucked compared to using wire to connect to the rig. Things change.

Class A, doesn’t guarantee, The manufacturers can make it better or not compared. Just like other gear the difference is the sound the manufacturer was wanting to provide.

Don’t care about stair step limitations. To much other stuff gets heard to be worried about this, in general.

So some of this bunk is real stuff others are things I don’t hear or don’t care and others are just points to argue. And I have my positions and am not going to argue about it.

Can we agree that some people are better listeners? I know my wife says I am not a good listener, but it might be I am just selective on what I listen closely to.
I call it "selective deafness" to certain things, at certain times.
