Hi all,
I’m new to the forums. I recently started to get into vintage speakers and I just happened to get a set of KLH Model 317 speakers as my first set.
I haven’t been able to find out a whole lot about these speakers. I think they sound great. From what I’ve read, they are from around the time the company was sold and moved the factory to California. I’ve also read that there are different versions. Mine have cloth surrounds.
I’m just curious if anyone has more information about the speakers and what other KLH they compare to.
I would REALLY love to get ahold of some of the surround treatment for these and my more recent acquisition of Model 32. I’ve been trying with no luck.
Finally, if anyone knows the right kind of thumbscrews for the speaker posts, that would be great.
Other speakers I’ve picked up are:
The Sears have been my first project speakers that I replaced all the caps and added an inductor.
I know not all of them are considered great, but they’re what I have for now.
I’d love to find out more about any of them.
Thanks!
