Introduction - need info on KLH Model 317 speakers

Overall, they still are my favorites.

I’ve read elsewhere they were a reboot of the 17’s. Not sure if that’s true.

I don’t remember how I sorted this out, but I think I figured out mine were manufactured in New York, so it was before the plant moved.

I’ve read that some of the later 317’s were foam and ported. Mine are cloth and sealed.
 
Post some pictures. The only pics I've been able to find were on Canuck Audio Mart that showed a ported 10" driver and no tweeter, and I can't imagine that's correct.

ETA: it appears that what looked like a stuffed port was actually a cone tweeter covered in some sort of cotton-like material.

Yup. The cotton. I debated removing it but they sound great as they are.

I did add the wood strips and modify the Velcro because my covers wouldn’t stay on.
