Is anyone else super OCD with their speakers?

I just spent the last few minutes hovering around a paper cone woofer with a flashlight, my brain fully convinced that I had altered the sonic characteristics of the woofer by cleaning it with a microfiber towel.

It was the rough sound of that microfiber dragging across the paper cone that got to me. Almost sounded like sandpaper. Man, I need to get out more.

Not too much. Heck, I use a speaker that has a dented tweeter and usually don't even give it a thought until a thread like this comes along. That said, I'm still carrying on as-is.

I think i might be a little bit, probably not.I will not listen to speakers without grills on when anyone or pet is around. I think thats just cautious though. Yeah im just cautious

I hate dented or pushed in dust caps. I replaced a couple perfectly good tweeters just because the dust caps were pushed in. I have another pair of speakers that over the course of production came with brown, black or blue cones. I have one with brown cones and one with black cones. My OCD has me looking for a mat hed pair even though the color has nothing to do with how they sound with the grills on.

My OCD is all about speaker positioning. If they're off by an inch left or right, tilt position etc it drives me crazy. Oddly enough pushed in dust caps etc I'm ok with as long as the grill is on. I'd rather not have to look at them. Also, it's essential that the gear on the equipment stand is centered and lined up correctly. Makes a huge difference on the sound! :D

Lol, I totally understand this. Speaker positions marked with dots of clear tape. I have an active crossover/dsp and redo the room correction EQ every time a piece of furniture is moved or my wife moves stuff around when dusting.

It’s more about keeping them clean and presentable. Lot s of polishing and one gets covered when not in use. (Sunlight)
