Is high power a waste at low to medium volume?

From my POV, one of the benefits of high audio output power availability for low to medium SPLs use, is the system loafs along with considerably less heat stress to the PS and output stage(s) which increases the receiver, or amplifier`s mean time before failure (MTBF).
I experience this benefit every single day all day long with the 4 rooms of my houses stereo systems, some of which have been in continuous powered up operation for over 24 yrs. playing just above conversational SPLs (a Sony 100 WPC. receiver purchased new in 2000 and installed in my car garage, and a RS receiver also 100 WPC, and purchased new in 1992 that remains powered up and playing for over 15 yrs. my WAV. ripped music all day in my spare bedroom at slightly above conversational SPLs.
I also have a Mc. MA-6100 70 WPC integrated amp that was given to me almost 10 yrs. back, that after I bench checked it out and replaced the slightly leaking output transistors on one channel, it was installed in my work shop, where it has remained powered up 24/7/365 since and playing all day music out there a bit above conversational SPLs.

One more 24/7/365 powered up high wattage system that usually plays at a bit above conversational SPLs all day is my sunroom`s Mc. separates system (a 205 WPC MC-2205 power amp that I bought used in 1986.

Other than replacing the 2 main filter capacitors in the 2205 due to one leaking back almost 10 yrs. ago while in sunroom`s service, none of these 24/7/365 powered up and playing music all day high wattage available systems have failed in any way or required servicing, they just keep on playing clear and tonally balanced sounding music for me, and I like to think this is because I`m not asking of them anywhere near their capability, and keeping them off my service bench for repair and lets me enjoy the music instead.
