Is Qobuz running on borrowed time?

I subscribe to Qobuz, Amazon HD, and Tidal Hi-Fi. I like all services but am worried that Qobuz may be going through some financial difficulties. Qobuz, which has 200,000 subscribers, has now discounted their service 40% in less than six months since their debut in the States. Seems that Amazon is trying to eliminate all competition with their new HD Ultra service, which I do like.

Is Qobuz running on borrowed time?

Qobuz dropped their price in November.
Are you saying its dropped again, 4 months later?
 
It seems that Qobuz wanted to be able to compete with the new (in November) similarly priced Amazon streaming service, so they lowered their price.
 
Amazon is ALWAYS the elephant in the room -
but unless they are offering something particularly tasty, its just offal to be ignored.
I've got Prime for my TV and its cheap shipping,
but AMHD is not part of my streaming choices.

I don't push past CD quality with my streaming stuff (think my Wifi is the limiting factor),
but for me, the test is if I can find the music I want to hear via a given service.

I haven't tried Amazon HD yet even tho I am a Prime. Have tried Deezer, Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz. Keeping Qobuz for now. The catalog is getting better and the integration with Roon is key to me. I heard AZ is not integrated with Roon so that is a no go for me.
 
I have Spotify on a 1 year gift card and Quboz and will keep Quboz and let Spotify go. Quboz seems to have better quality, although sometimes is drops out on my laptop driving the main rig in the basement. It did work well yesterday driving back from Chicago via my phone.
 
Nothing about Amazon HD makes me want to switch from Qobuz. I have kept Deezer as well for its broader selection.
 
I'm on the fence.
I keep finding myself pulling up Amazon over QB even though the Amazon is free, and I'm paying for QB.
No idea why.
 
Right now, we have multiple mega-corps involved in streaming. They have huge advantages because they don't need to make a penny directly on their music services. Companies like Tidal, Qobuz, Deezer, etc. all have their challenges to stay in business. Who really knows until they get bought up or go under? I personally don't care about their longevity in my choice right now. I keep Apple Music alongside a lossless option anyway.

I have mentioned my issues with Amazon HD in the past. Namely, that is the lack of bit rate switching "exclusive mode" on my macs (I believe PCs have the same issue), the lack of a remote control so that my iPad can control what is playing without needing the desktop monitor, and the lack of it being built into Audirvana like Tidal and Qobuz. On top of that, their Firetv's play at 48khz. Because of these issues, I don't see it is a viable alternative to lossless/hi rez compared to Qobuz and Tidal when used with Audirvana (which also sends the music to my many DLNA devices). Maybe they will remedy these issues, but I don't see me using their service until these problems are resolved.

I think it's just a case of more competition in the market for "HD" streaming services. AFAIK, it used to be just Tidal and Qobuz. Now you've got Amazon HD, Deezer HiFi, and possibly others whom may pop up (if not already).

Tidal doesn't offer lossless content beyond 44/16. Forget lossy MQA.

Likewise, Amazon HD is limited to lossless 44/16. You need Amazon Ultra HD to match Qobuz lossless 192/24.

Same here. MOG had a great UI and selection. I thought it sounded very good, too. What exactly was the resolution MOG streamed in, anyway? Did they even clam to be CD quality? It sounded better than most of my CD’s, in spite of it being one of the first streaming services. I definitely preferred it over Spotify. Was a sad, sad time when Beats tried to take the reigns.
