IS this Zenith Console Worth $100?

Hi, i can buy this locally for $100. Owner says that it works fine just needs a new needle.

I believe model number is SFD2515. I think they even have the manual.

Just looking for a console about this size to play some records on with my kids.

Not sure if this is a tube console or not (Someone told me that's better than solid state even though I don't really understand it all!)

If you’re looking for a console that size I’d say it’s worth $100. I like the looks of it with the curved front. I’ve seem very similar zenith consoles that have the 49CZ852 speakers that a lot of people really like. The ones I’ve seen have a little 6bq5 single ended tube amp too. I’d say go for it. Just note that with a piece of tube equipment this old you may want to have a tech replace the capacitors in the amplifier. Many people just part these out since not many people have space for them but I think it’s great if you can keep it together and enjoy it as it was designed.

If that is your level of understanding -- don't do it unless you know someone who can service it. Finding service techs to work on consoles is difficult. A tube console will certainly need a restoration.

If it is solid state and works -- test it, you are probably fine to to get it to play with. Note that the turntable will not be of high quality and for sound quality you can do much better. But for something for young kids to play with that might be fine for that purpose.

Pretty sure it is from 1959 and it is tube SEE HERE. Probably nice sounding after restoration.

I really like the looks of it, and size, I'd be all over it at that price if it was local to me. It probably has a Cobramatic record player in it and you can still find the cartridges for it.

^^I agree^^ if like Jonas says it has the 49cz drivers they alone are worth more than the asking price. And it is a pretty console as well!
