It's Floodin' Down in Texas With Tornados

It's raining right now. So far, this has been the weirdest year for weather that I have seen. That's saying a lot because Texas has the weirdest weather of any place that I have lived.

Strange weather indeed. Snow in the Dakotas and early tropical storm Ana making landfall in the Carolinas.

We even got some rip snortin' thundershowers in SoCal the other night at 2:30AM. The Feline Horde were all stacked up under the bed for that one.

Just watched a possible tornado manufacturing storm pass by from my back yard, been here so many times before. That hook is what you watch closely.

It has rained more and rained harder here in OK than I have seen in over 20 years and I've lived here a loooong time.
Every day since last Friday I have emptied at least 3 inches out of my rain gauge.
I think yesterday (before the power went out) I heard on the tv there has been 50 tornados here.
No wonder my home owner's insurance is sky-high!

I'm hoping for no hail and twisters here. Got a bunch of lettuce, onions, tomatoes, mustard greens, cilantro, jalapeno peppers, snow peas, strawberries, black diamond watermelons, and blueberries out in the gardens.

We're 12 inches ahead of where we were this time last year, in an area that gets 24 inches of rain total in a good year.

The drought has been so bad the last few years, it's been 3 or 4 years since we've even seen a tornado.

It wasn't headed for the house, was going across a field. Seen lots of funnels in my 50 year life, this was my first touch down.

I've lived in tornado alley my whole life and never saw one in the wild. Saw a lot of precursors and plenty of damage afterwards, but never a funnel on the ground.

Time to update the bucket list!

I'm in Dallas, and it's been pretty steady rain. No downpours (had that earlier) but definitely a wet start of the year.

I'll be careful, hopefully power stays on if it does storm

I am glad to hear that nobody was killed.

Tornados are rare in the Fatherland, but their number has increased in the last decades. Last week a tornado destroyed a lot of houses in a little town in Eastern Germany, many people have been hurt, but nobody was killed. Authorities had warned about a severe thunderstorm with heavy rain - but there was no tornado forecast or alert.

According to our local station, one dead in Cisco TX just outside of Fort Worth.

Just a few miles from where I live, Van TX has significant damage from a tornado touchdown. 26 injuried, no reported deaths yet. School will not open tomorrow.

In the past hour, 4.4 inches of rain fell here. Athens TX is nearing 11 inches of rainfall.

10 reported still missing in Van, TX. My prayers they are all found and are safe.
