Isn't it kinda hard to 'scratch' with those types of arms? It's a good arm, but the best improvement you can make to an SL is to upgrade the arm.

Looks great. The arm is not here yet so not sure what's involved. I have seen them installed on the G from the bottom and looks to be plenty of room. If not I can fix it.I wouldn't knock the feet, they are better than you think. They are actually filled with some silicone fluid which aids in damping. I've had no problems at all with it. I've also done some similar upgrades (other than the feet). I used the same Ammonite armboard but for a Jelco TK-850S, along with a Koetsu Urushi Sky Blue. I am also using the Auditorium 23 Hommage mat, which is a sort of rubberized felt of some sort. Also, you may want to look into the SME on the 1200G. I read someone on another forum had trouble fitting a DIN plug into the SME because of the angled connector. Here's a pic (sans A23 mat):

You'd need an ocean of Calamine lotion...Isn't it kinda hard to 'scratch' with those types of arms?

As for the space for the SME cable, remember it also has to go down through the rest of the base.
Piece of cake. You forget I'm the one that designed and built Thor. Running a cable is child's play.Had a similar experience, when no one is watching the clock most issues can be resolved.

Heavy too.MASSIVE TRANSFORMER!!!!!!
Nice !!!

That is one serious arm board! You can see that the new arm plate is all machined aluminum out of billet not cast. The bottom plate is about 3/8 thick. And also you can see that the center section can be replace with different arm boards for other arms. View attachment 1320079 View attachment 1320080 View attachment 1320081
It is very nice and has the same shape as the stock one. Also the screws are hidden that mounts the board to the deck. But like everything nice there's a price to pay. $$$That is one serious arm board!
I never thought of that. That's sad. Maybe I should be an organdonor.Your ripping out parts that are ten times better than many of the parts that other members have on their turntable. That's great!!
What ever the outcome have fun, and enjoy yourself, as we enjoy all your builds both past and future ones to come.

I never herd it when it was all stock so I will never know if it sounds better or not. That way I could never be disappointed in the money I spent to change it.At the end of the day, I wonder how much this all changes the actual sound.
Regardless, I admire someone who has the courage to do this to something literally brand new.
