It's rainin' Maggies here!

The pair have a 175 in one. the other is an unpowered speaker. Off topic, went to see Savoy Brown last night! In a dinner theater, no less! Great show and the food wasn't too shabby either.:tresbon:

Man I need to get out more. When I first moved to VT there was NO live music to speak of, now? It's getting really really cool. And I'm right next to Quebec, a dadgum wonderland of culture and I've been too lazy to drive 20minutes to an hour.

I would love to kick back at a Savoy Brown show. What was the crowd and the sound like in the room? I can't imagine eating during that show. It'd be 20minutes between bites, and if folks say music is like wine with a meal... I don't know what I'd serve with it. Somethin' that fosters getting close to the stage to see how in the dickens they control those sweet snarly bends.

Ok. That's all way OT.
I have a Fisher 560-M cab with a 30A amp inside that I keep swearing I'm going to rebuild for 2 channel music... but it's just the sweetest clean guitar amp in the world. That's what I was thinking when I saw the 175'.... Archtop>clean boost>stereo delay to 175 pair... now that's a home entertainment system.:tresbon::thmbsp:

(ps, if you don't play, making friends with local musicians and (CAREFULLY) hosting a selective jam at your own home is my absolute favorite way to fill the place with music... they bring beverages of choice and I supply pizza or cook. Just make sure you invite all the neighbors and really try to get them to come. They never seem to be bugged by the volume if they are at the jam)

And if that ebony case is damaged... get it to someone who can either restore it or disassemble/blueprint it. I love good cabinetry, which seems to have disappeared in my life time.

Must say, I hadn't thought of using the twins in that way.I like it! Been playin' guitar since I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. Me and a couple of chums made instruments out of cardboard and scrap lumber, (we were all of eight years old):smoke: I've upgraded a bit since then, Guild D4 acoustic six string. I've been wanting to put a pick up in it.:D
Regarding the show, Savoy Brown was as cool and polished as ever. They made it look effortless. The audience (lots of hip long gray haired old hippies) did their job, lots of applause and catcalls (and barking, howling) early on. Very receptive audience at The Coach House in San Juan Capistrano. Two encores with everybody up on their feet, it's great to see us bunch of old farts gettin' excited about somethin'! It was a blast!
I'm curious about this Magnavox bi amp set up. I'll have to recap them and replace the resistors. The three cap cans are all 30uf/10uf in each. I'm wondering, how much and where to increase capacitance. Here's a 150 schematic. Feel free to chime in!

Man, I bet those will be pretty kickass, once you refurb them, congrats! :thmbsp: Funny how you got them one right after the other too, that'd be hard to plan it that way. :D

Yep, couldn't believe it either. Thought it would take a long time to find another bi amp around here. Thanks.

Wow, that's looks cool. Increase capacitance? Looking at the schem I think I'd do it their way--- as much as possible. I mean if they spec'd a 10uf and all you can find is a 10.7uf... oh well. Just make sure that the new caps can handle the voltage (maybe bump up from 200v to 300v or 350v I guess) But that thing looks like mono HiFi heaven.

And since you have one mono amp and 2 speakers you can't do the stereo delay thing anyway... and high frequency horns ( 2 of 'em!!!) usually aren't guitar friendly... but you never know, right?

But man... does that look like a piece of 50's mono heaven. Stereo is just a gimmick anyhow. :smoke:
(and I just watched Flawless last night-- the best early 60's jazz sound track on earth, and the photography is gorgeous, and the sets are perfect, and there's Michael Caine, and Demi Moore was (IMO) the best she's ever been.)

Hopefully some others will chime in on the schematic, I think I know *just* enough to be dangerous. :)
But from the little I know, that looks sooo cool. Audiowise. There are tons of other things to use with git-fiddles. I think that one is worth putting the work into.

I can't wait to hear what others think of the thing.

Wait-- you have MATCHING BI_AMPS???
and matching 15"-12"-horn-horn drivers?????
Wholly Fark. :jawdrop: My Lord, you have scored. :ntwrthy:

I don't know what to tell you to use for a stereo pre-amp, but good lordy.
I'd be really really interested in hearing those when done. I kind of think that right around there HiFi really hit it's high point in some ways, time to spin some Skatalites.

NICE SCORE !!

the Jensen horn tweeters are some of the better horn drivers they threw in consoles. and you sir are ON A ROLL !

I wish that I stumbled into two Brittany's! Recap and run a source to each and be done!! Hmmmm, a three way. The Berkshire has the same 15", no 12" and a single Ev horn. I ain't complainin' tho.
I wonder when I have to give that key to the candy store back:D
