JBL 4530 cabinet

If the cabinet is nice and original, I wouldn't cut it for the tweeter, but just mount the tweeter to the exterior on a stand.

such great information thank you! A couple last questions — where does one go about acquiring nicer stands for externally placing tweeters and horns for the JBL’s? And also what kind of crossover do you need to connect all three components?
 
The N7000 crossover was used with the 075/2402 and the N8000 with the 077/2405 but you can make the same using better components at a fraction of the going cost. The schematics are online.

JBL made stands to mount the 2402/2405s and there are/were aftermarket stands available. I used to make and sell them in clear acrylic, and perhaps have a set left.

Do a Google search for JBL Tweeter stands and you will see a few different types, including my acrylic offerings.

It also incorporates the high frequency horn in the front baffle. It uses the 130A and DHL175 also the N1200 xover. I liked my 4350’s a little more on their sides too, but mine are setup as 4 way and biamped
