JBL C34 SPEAKERS - Need advice

Problem I had with running things that way- N1200, then N8000- was that by the time one turned down the midrange horn enough on the factory N1200 controls, to match the woofer- the tweeter was too attenuated, even turned all the way up.

If, as you say, you put a separate L-pad in series with the horn- then, you don't have to attenuate the N1200 HF section. That should solve that problem. But, without a separate L-pad for the horn, after the N8000- that setup never worked well for me.

Yes, I believe the 175s are 16 ohms and you would want to match that.

These are the guys I would use:

Yep, at the cost of having very little usable output above 15KHz on the 075. That's where the 077 shined- it was flat pretty much to nearly 20kHz.

I took Gondon’s advice and used the N8000 as the main input and holy cow! It brought the highs and mid range higher, definition in general was highly improved. Sound is way crisper and even LF sounds better. Overall I’m way happier with this set up. I’ve also got a pair of Lpads as Todd advised, have yet to hook that up. I tried to send a video, but file is too big, even a shot one it won’t go thru for some reason.
Think next step is to mount the 2405 to the baffle and the N8000 to the back slightly above the N1200.

Should have got the 50 watt as I noted. I have both and the 100 watt got scratchy in no time whereas the 50 watt are still smooth and "clean". A difference in the quality of the piece.

Good Afternoon Team, quick question, Im looking to upgrade the horns from the JBL 175 to the JBL 2441, any objections? Does anyone know if the horn of the 175 will fit the 2441?

Don't know what horn you are considering but...

the 2241 has a 2" throat, 175 has a 1" throat.

the 2441 also has a 4 bolt mounting to the horn, 175 has 3 bolts

To my memory, there is no JBL horn with the flange and needed cutout dimensions of the 175 "potato masher", with the 2" throat that the 2441 would need.

The closest thing that fits that cutout, with a 2" throat driver, is the HL93- but that would require the slat lens as well.

Thank you Gordon! much appreciated, learning bit by bit... I'll probably have to spend the extra $$$ for the right horn. I was looking at the 375, but it's way too expensive and for what I've read, the 2441 is even better.

Awesome! that you Todd for sending the images, super helpful. You're right! I dont think it's fit inside the cabinet, so it'll go on top and possibly replace the 175 with the 2405 tweeters and ultimately sell the 175 online.

In today's day and age, you could very easily 3D print the adapter to practically any length, and I'm betting it would be a whole lot easier and cheaper than finding the JBL adapter. Just be sure that you support the weight of the driver.

Here is is, OMG! I didn’t realize how massive and heavy those drivers are, just got them today. The horns are McCauley, holes are perfectly lined up with the drivers. The lenses are 3D printed from a guy in Denmark, I was actually surprised, pretty solid and well made.
there is a clear difference in the vocals. I really have no complaints, sounds good enough to me. At some point later I may get new diaphragm. I’ve also been reading online about having the drivers remagnetized, I have no idea if that’s the case with mine or even were to have them serviced in the Denver area.
Now deciding what to do with the original 175, can we have two horns? Will that damage the crossover N8000 to N1200?
Right now set up looks barbaric, the horns sit on a dogfood bowl and slightly elevated with a book, until I figure out what to do, I’m pretty handy and have plenty of woodworking tools at home, just need to go to the drawing board.
Any comments or suggestions is appreciated.

There is no capacitor shown on the case. I think you are looking at their rendition of the shaft for orientation of the leads.

Im considering at some point to upgrade the 136A woofers for the LE15A, Should I look at the LX5 crossover or there is a better vession?
