JBL L100A prices still going up

don't get left out or trampled by the flipper crowd:

join the jenius flippers. drive these puppies past a C5 corvette.
 
genius solves the quantum mechnics/relativity problems and formulate
grand unified field theory.

flippers making couple bucks flipping broken/unfixed/dirty/damaged/unrepairable
units think they're genius material but spell it wrong.

Jenius was on a T-short I saw on an episode of Garage Squad. the mechanic there
is a genius as is Arthur Tussik.

... until he receives them and notices the rings on the cabinet tops and realizes that he bought above average speakers marketed well, ... for more than double the normal price for excellent examples.

It's at a price where I am very interested in how this one ends. Will they be re-listed, will they sell, will sniping drive it up over the price of a nice FalconJet? And what really did happen to D.B. Cooper?

100% agree. This auction really highlights the value of great presentation, numerous good photos, and most notably how much the packaging and various advertising/manual etc. add to the price. This auction has now reached nearly the price point of a brand new pair of L100 Classic speakers (which have an MSRP of around $4000 USD), if you include the shipping. This itself is somewhat absurd. I would have expected $2500 tops, which is really strong, but not nearly $3000. As others have stated, it will be interesting to see if this ends with an actual sale or a re-listing.

Dang and I just bought a pair of Century L100A just as nice (or nicer) for $100 from a guy who was about to donate them to the Goodwill. They have been in storage for approx 25 yrs of their life and the cabinets have no stains nor scratches. Original boxes but no manuals etc. They do have replacement grills, because he said the foam was dead within 3 yrs of purchase, but the grills are excellent. I'm thinking of swapping out the grill frames for some walnut ones on the L100's I picked up a few years ago for a song. But this thread makes me think I should join the trend and flip them. NOT!
 
My wife came over and sat next to me while i was looking at the ad. She thought the guy was nuts. But then she is not into audio and when she looks at my records and gear all she usually sees is dollar sign. Not wasted money really. More of,"I wonder what i can get for it when he's gone", kind of thing.

Regarding the grille frames, what are your other frames made of if not the original walnut ones?

Makes me wonder what my wife thinks.

My son looks at it like wasted money on anything that's not plugged in, which is probably accurate, because he feels I could sell everything not being used and put the money toward something nicer for a main system.
 
I've read that those sound good but haven't heard them, probably my closest set is the 240Ti, which might be a similar sound.
