My listening area is rather small. These would never reach their potential? What happens in a small room with these?

They sound great! I'd worry more about how their size would dominate aesthetically rather than how the sound would be affected. These are some big boys! If the sound is more important than any WAF, go for it. :thmbsp:
BTW, these have been listed on Audiogon for over three weeks and haven't gone anywhere. A Zero-feedback seller and already over 2,000 views so they're not exactly considered a "scroe" by anyone. They are listed as "make offer" and the photos are much more detailed especially where it comes to the crack, but you still can't really tell if the woofers were re-foamed correctly as in front vs. back or how the glue looks. From what I can see, I'd be a bit skeptical of the professionalism of the "professional" that did them. In my opinion, given what we know about these, they'll be lucky to break $1,200.

I agree- one would want to check them out first at that price.
I heard a set years ago- and was very impressed. Along with the ESS AMT3's and big Maggies-a speaker I may (and would like) to own in the future-one of those speakers that really stand out above the crowd-in quality and musicality of sound-and that's what it's all about.
One of those distinctive speakers that sticks in you audio memory bank.

Possible refoam job would scare me a little too. I'd rather get them needing foam. I got lucky I guess as mine appear to have been reconed at one time.
FWIW, I'm into mine a few years ago for his asking price including a $300 padded van move cost from Seattle to Denver. Aside from MY f**kup where I sanded through a small spot of veneer trying to get rid of a scratch (character)
they are perfect.
I just put mine into storage. I really need to refurbish them at some point, but I haven't listened to them in some time and finally decided to rotate them out.
They served me well for a long time!
They're not for sale. I absolutely refuse to ship them, I live too far from anybody for a local sale, and they have enough cosmetic issues to make them undesirable to a collector.
