JBL L300, Cabinet and XO.

Hello friends,

I have started building a pair of L300 using Nelson Pass cross-over. I have already contacted Parts-Express for the xo parts.

My ultimate goal is building a 4343. But for now I want to make a simple box for the 2235H and put the horn and the tweeter on top of it.

I could not find the proper box volume and port size for the L300 setting. So any information is greatly appreciated.

Unless you're copying the aesthetic of the L300 (curved wood, glass tops, slant front) then what you really want to build is a 4333. Those specs and dimensions are pretty easy to come by: http://www.audioheritage.org/vbulletin/showthread.php?22269-4333-port-and-cabinet-dimensions

I just measured the ID on my 4333's, and they are: 28.5 H x 22.25 W x 15.75 D. That should come out to 5.78 cubic feet, less the bracing and such. The port is 4.138" across and 4.038" long. I hope that helps you. Good luck, have fun, and God Bless!

The JBL-Pro recommends 5.0 cubic feet with two ports (4” x 11”). Why is 4333 cabinet different?

Tilted baffle might sound better but that would depend on your seating position.

So guys, do you confirm this:

In 5 cubic feet cabinet, instead of making one 4.138" (diameter) x 4.038" (lengnth), I can make two 4" (dia) x 11" (length)? Are they equivalent bass tuning?

I can use a 4" PVC conduit from Home Depot.
