JBL L300

So you have seen what they go for on eBay, know of a pair for a fraction of that amount, and still feel the need to ask about the viability of the purchase here?
Yep knew how much people are paying for them and posted here on AK to stir up interest. Imagine that they sold by post 35, I just have to wonder who decided to PM him. Kind of like hustling I think.:scratch2:

He never had the original woofers... he thought they were the originals. He did not know what he had. I have sold them actually...

Now all we have to do is wate for the person to post "Score"

@4-2-7 You know who is buying them obviously. He did not post in this thread. But you have one of the pictures I sent this evening! You will not be disappointed I believe. If he has no problem telling what he paid, I do not mind. He does not know even what I paid for them. Stirring up interest was not intended, but it did happen. I kinda thought they were too good to be true, just wanted to reassure myself I guess. I hooked them up to an old Sherwood and played a bit of Metallica's S&M on them, almost regret selling them. :-)

I don't know who's buying anything and the photo is yours that you posted. I just smell fish bad since you started this thread. You signed up to be a member here posted a topic that should be in Dollars and Cents, then preceded to sell to other members that you hook without being a subscriber and selling in Barter Town.

All I did was see a Spammer a mile away and busted you doing it.

I have erred please forgive me for I have sinned. I understand that posting in the wrong category is not kosher. I was not looking to sell them yet. I saw that the category was "Speakers" and thought I was good. I see now that if I want to know what it will cost to fix up a pair I should go to Dollars and Cents.

I have actually been signed up here at AK for a few weeks, although I only knew about the L300's for two days now. Believe me if you choose, but I will not argue.

I have read for a long time that this pair or that pair are a superior sounding speaker as opposed to the other. I never before had a chance to listen to one of the accepted "Greats". It is like any other; some like it and others do not. They are good even with junk woofers in them. I would love to keep them and restore them to their former glory. With our family finances, as ggreg said about the radio he purchased long ago, they are helping. As far as finances go what does it cost to subscribe?

@4-2-7 I had forgotten Quote (the photo is yours that you posted.) It was late. I should have been in bed.

I have learned the truth about being happy with what you have. If it sounds good to me, than it is a great speaker. To me.

In my opinion, we all kind of convinced the OP to sell them. Your usual spammer is not going to comment back, like he has. Give the guy a break.

I agree ggregg. My wife is very happy. I am starting to call myself "The Finder". I hooked the pair up and even with the crap car audio subwoofers in them they sound good enough that I had to turn them off before I regretted selling them. :-) Also @hjames, do you mean buy them from you, or if I find another pair of interesting speakers for cheap?

No - I'm not selling anything at the moment, but thanks for the offer!

i just meant let us know as you find these interesting things, yes?

It costs just $25 to subscribe and then you have access to bartertown, where all the buy and sell action is supposed to occur.

Since you bought and sold, you should become a subscriber now on general principles -
you wouldn't have made a sale without advertising your buy here anyway, right?
The site helped you make money, its only fair to give a bit back to help pay for the site.
Its a cheap price and helps support this busy website ...

And it will and a bit of Kama to this thread.

You can buy and sell in the Marketplace for free.

That's true - but since he made some money thanks to AudioKarma,
its just polite to give back a little to help the site pay their expenses, don't you think?

Can't argue with that, just the "where all the buy and sell action is supposed to occur" isn't strictly true. Sure, it'd be nice to subscribe, but it's not required to buy and sell.

I am planning to subscribe. Bartertown sounds fun. I will ask If my buyer cares if I tell buying/selling price on the pair.

Not necessary, and good move subscribing.

When you want to know about or learn something specific you can post that under the topic that best suits it.

When you want to know the prices or value of things it's a topic that is discussed in "Dollars & Cents.

When you want to sell something you post a listing in Barter Town under the category that best suits it.

And by the way Welcome to AK

Thank you for the welcome. My next project may be modifying my pair of Optimus T100's. That should go under Speakers, right? But as far as how much things cost for that, Dollars and Cents? They probably just need a recap and new tweeters. The originals are pulling away from the surround, and have a oily sticky substance on them.

The speakers are no longer sold. I did some research on how easy it could be for a buyer to screw me using paypal, and I did not want to risk that. I think I will look to fix these speakers, probably gradually, as I get the money and parts.

Oh? That's interesting ... did you not trust the guy who bought them?

I have bought and sold hundreds of items using Paypal and never had a problem with fraud.
Oh, I did have a bad sale from eBay, but since I take pictures of everything,
it was easy to prove he shipped me a burned up amp so I got a refund.
Another sold me a really neat coffeemaker and only wrapped it in newspaper,
so it was shattered when it arrived. But neither of those was a Paypal problem.

But - it would be a real bear to SHIP a pair of L300 speakers - pricey too!
I have the similarly sized JBL L200 speakers (see my Avatar)
and if/when I ever sell them, it would be local pickup only ...
