JBL L7 Trade

I'd be interested in hearing your assessment of both pair side-by-side. :thmbsp:

It's hard to beat the integration of the four drivers in the L7, especially with the Model 14's gap in the high-range of its woofer. I've also never heard anything that supportive of the 12" woofer in the Model 14's bottom end where the side-firing LE120H-1 in the L7 has been used in dedicated subs from various manufacturers over the years. Granted, to many the Altecs will win in an aesthetic competition and the L7 is considered by some (who don't know the truth) to be a poorly finished Circuit-City low-line JBL attempt at mass marketing. It is not. The Altecs will perform well with low-power amps. The L7 will shine with as much power as you can feed it and it works better with more than less.

Might be a bit of a chore to audition them side-by-side, but if neither one of you have a buyer and the other seller is interested in a swap, at least that's where I'd start.

I don't know, that's a tuff one. When placed correctly the L7 is a supurb sounding speaker. I have never owned nor heard the 14's so I can't comment on them. From an investment / collectabilty standpoint I think the 14's are the better choice. But I think the finish on the JBL's are stunning, love the piano black and I don't think that finish is very common. I guess it comes down to which sounds better to you, can you audition the 14's?
