These are my first pair of L80Ts in before-and-after condition. After (very) light sanding I simply applied a coat of Watco Danish Clear and that's the result on the right. Both my pairs have T3 crossovers and the mods suggested by Gordon in lengthening the port tube and packing addition insulation in the top. Sound fine but the L5s still blow them away.
Warning: The tweeters generally fail due to mishandling. If you are careful removing the wire connectors without moving the terminals on the tweeter, DO NOT be tempted to straighten the speaker terminals. That will stretch and break the thin lead that goes to the diaphragm and cause infinite resistance! Leave them crooked and hold them carefully with a small needle-nosed plier when removing the wire's Faston connector.
