JBL re-introducing the L-100

The L 100 thats on display at the Harman store is about 70% of what the finished product will be according to the designers. The 4312SE is set up quite badly. The set does them no justice. From my speaking with my former co workers at JBL they are exact to the older 4312. So they should sound awesome. According to the same designers the new L 100 Classic should blow the 4312 away. But being a former JBL sales exec for pro sound I always took the 4311 or 4312 over the L 100 which was derived from the 4310
I meant how the Kralk compares to the 4312E/SE.

I meant how the Kralk compares to the 4312E/SE.
For the money I would choose the Kralk. If money is no matter the 4312se. But you know where my loyalty lies. The Kralk is half the price and much heavier with a vertical driver orientation. For the home Kralk....Studio 4312se

The horizontal mid and high frequency alignment if the 4312SE......The 4312SE is designed to be placed on it's side in the studio.

I worked with both designers for years at JBL. They are both students of Floyd Toole. especially Chris Hagen the lead designer. No doubt with Chris at the helm the L 100 Classic may end up being as important and popular as the original, the most imitated and influential speaker of the 1970's. one of the greatest decades for High fidelity equipment.

So, who among you has actually BOUGHT ONE??
edit - a PAIR, of course, I mean who has actually bought a PAIR of them!

And don't forget (it may be buried earlier in this thread) that Chris is credited with creating the L7, L5, L3, and L1 under budget and price-point restraints.

I'm not going to read all 24 pages of this post but the pages I did read had a lot of comments about the new price which was of interest to me when I heard a pair demonstrated last week. I'm quoting the manufacturer rep who said that they are selling them at only $300 above what the old ones would sell for today when adjusted for inflation. You can get your calculators out but that is what the manufacturer rep said.

They were paired with a Mark Levinson 585.5 integrated amplifier. Unfortunately it was not that long of a demo because much of the demo focused on a pair of Revel F228 BE tower speakers which IMO sounded much better than the JBL's.

There may be some that made it out of the factory.....all I can speak of is what I heard from Chris Hagen.

The Revels are a much more refined and more costly speaker

I think they are 4-5 times more expensive than the JBL's. I honestly think it was a bit unfair to start out with the Revel's. The rep really demoed the JBL's almost as an afterthought which I think was a shame.

JBL makes models up to $75,000....so a comparison between like priced models can be made. Revels I'm sorry to say just plain outclass JBL these days. Do yourself a favor. Buy Tektons. If you really want L 100 type sound buy Kralk TBD 12

Leafed through the latest issue of Sound & Vision, and lo and behold, there's a nice ad for the new L100 in the first few pages. The text says to contact your JBL Synthesis dealer for more information. It would be really positive if someone here on AK actually bought a pair and gave us a proper review, complete with detailed photos.
