Jeep ad with Mac

The ad states "starting at $99,995." Who would pay that for a Jeep/Dodge/Fiat?

I think the MX950 system is part of a $5,995 option package on the Wagoneer Series III. The MX 950 is standard on the Grand Wagoneer Series I and II. The top MX1375 system is part of a $3,995 option package on the Grand Wagoneer Series II and is standard on the Series III.

Chevrolet and Ford are making Pick ups that cost easily over $100,000. Thats crazy, too. It just proves the middle class is being crushed and that there are a lot of people out there that have more money than good sense.
But if I won the lottery I would be in the Bay Area visiting Magico and in Coburg Oregon visiting Marathon. So I guess I am just as crazy as anyone else given the opportunity. I have already been to Audio Classics this year and I haven't won the lottery. I would love to go to Audio Classics again to hear a pair of MC 225's driving the new Klipsch Jubilees. They are cheap compared to a big pair of Wilsons or Magico M9's.

There, I fixed it for you. A hunnit grand. That’s life savings money, for a vehicle. I guess it makes an amp like McIntosh seem inexpensive. It’s all relative I guess…money, it’s just another way of keeping score.
I agree, if I had some lottery winning, I’d buy some crazy stuff too. Support your habits haha!
Funny. When I was at Audio Classics, auditioning the Jubilees (driven by two MC 275s), I said to Steve, “What about a 225 on top and a 275 on bottom?” Steve said that would be pretty sweet.

He and I both have a fond spot for MC 225 driving very efficient speakers. My MA 230 which was sort of like having a C-24 with a 225 driving Altec Coronados and Carmels and the sound was pretty sweet. I had to use a Ortofon MC with step up transformers to get the best phono signal to noise back in the early 60's. When I changed to Bozak speakers I changed to 240 and C-22 and then added second 240. When I changed to Concert Grands the 240's were changed to two 275's and they were smoother than 240's and the tubes lasted much longer.

I guess no one remembers the days when Clarion owned Mcintosh. If you saw the price Jeep wants for adding the hybrid Mcintosh system you wouldn't be saying cheap. You know the Italians are doing the speakers. A friend of mine and a customer had a Pontiac Fire Bird. He had a Mcintosh system in his car that we installed. All I remember is it sounded great and looked cool with the meter display and all the amps mounted in the trunk. I do remember he had to upgrade the alternator and replace his battery with two large batteries used in Diesel Pickups. I remember changing from 4D batteries to 8D batteries for the RV when I added my M&K surround system. It also made a big difference when I went from a modified sine wave to a pure sign wave inverter. That was in 98 for the first RV and 2003 for the second. Taking out the Bose systems was a high priority!

Please explain how exposing more people to your brand is a terrible decision. Do you really think that McIntosh fans won't buy their home audio equipment just because they also offer automotive sound systems? I think it's a good move by both companies.

At the .21 mark is awesome VU meter display. I assume it's a digital image but impressive just the same.
Hmmm. Is there a way to put that on my TV when I'm jammin' tunes?
Go to the McIntosh lab website. You can download an app that puts meters on your screen
I never understood the crazy price point, for these vehicles. I rented a Jeep out of SFO, (It was the only car available) and in 50 years of driving, it was by far, the worst vehicle that I have ever driven. I'd buy a new Corvette, or a used Porsche, if I had that kind of Scratch, in the Bank to play with...
