This has got to be one of my all time favorite LPs; a desert island pick for sure. The band on this LP includes Jeff Beck on Guitar, Rod Stewart on vocals, Ron Wood on bass, Mickey Waller on drums and special guests Keith Moon, Nicky Hopkins, John Paul Jones, and Aynsley Dunbar. The songs run the gamut from heavy blues rock to a blows you away version of "Old Man River" and a great acoustic "Greensleeves" to the longer, "live" (not really) slow blues "Blues Deluxe". There's not a bad cut on it.

I'm listening to the remastered CD version with 8 added cuts and can't get over how good it sounds; clean, crisp, clear and dynamic, it really improves upon the original. The outtakes and alternate versions are nice, but not killer, additions, but the overall sound of the CD is really excellent. The La Scalas don't cut recordings any slack and this one sounds out of sight. A lot of folks are gonna hear this tomorrow at AKFest 2007 :thmbsp:

Jeff is one of my all time favorite guitarists. That is a cool album. I think that is Jeff Beck singing the second verse on " Let Me Love You" as well. It sure isn't Rod.

Have an original pressing and love it. Have 10 othe Beck lp's under appreciated artist :music: You ain't heard it until on LP
 
Love it. The LP is fine, the old CD is shite, and I will take your remastered CD plug to heart.
 
keninDC, i have the old cd. i wonder if i would like it more had i the remastered version. maybe not, the thing that keeps me away from listening is the voice of rod stewart. maybe i could get used to it.

Frankly, I thought he was at his best on that album and it was all downhill for him after the Beck gig. Yeah, and that includes the Little Feat stuff...

I'll have to find the new remastered CD and compare. Of course, the old CD sounds kinda nice on this Carver SD/A 490t with the Soft EQ turned on.
 
Listened to it three days ago. It's hard to imagine one band could have Eric Clapton, Jimi Page and Jeff Beck. I love Jeff Beck. Saw him when he was doing the great fusion with Jan Hammer.

Early Rod Stewart, including the stuff with Small Faces, is excellent music. He jumped the shark with "Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?" Nauseating, yes; sexy, no. Unfortunately, the shark was unable to devour him.

I find my old "Truth" CD to be muddy. As for Rod the Mod's voice, I like him with the Faces too, as well as his early Mercury stuff. It took me years, but I have finally purged the "D'ya Think I'm Sexy" stuff from my head.

In fact, I freakin' love the Faces. I just bought the gold Steve Hoffman CD of "A Nod Is as Good as a Wink..."

Yup...Rod the Mod was okay by me...that is until he started making records like Tonight's The Night and Do Ya Think I'm Sleazy. "Every Picture Tells A Story" is a classic album IMO. To get back on topic, my copy of Truth (Epic EK 47412) doesn't sound all that different from the vinyl copy I've had since the late 60's. Both on the yellow Epic label.
 
What a great album. The version of "Shapes Of Things" pretty much blows the original off the map. "You Shook Me" is a little dig in Page's side perhaps?
"Beck's Bolero" is worth the price of admission.

If you guys like Truth, you'd probably like Beck-Ola. Beck, Stewart, Wood, but on drums Tony Newman and Nicky Hopkins on piano.
