Jensen LS-6 Speaker Owner's Needed

They said that you have to apply several very thin layers, letting it dry in between aplications. Cyan blue ink from a printer maybe?, humm...

Yeah, it very well could be the one or not . Too bad no one sees your post, or would take the time to remove a woofer and check.

Good news finally!

I replied back to the ePay seller to thank him and told him that I was looking for LS-6 woofers which must have jogged his memory because shortly after he sent me a message telling me he was incorrect in stating that they were pulled from a Fisher console. He sent me pictures of the woofers with the LS-6 badge so I agreed to purchase them. (pictures below)

At this point in time I feel fairly confident in stating that a Jensen 15" woofer with a model number of "C9849 & 31092" would be an original woofer for the LS-6 speakers. I should mention that Jensen may have used others at some point in time, but that remains to be seen or proven.

I have to get the woofer surrounds and decide on how to make them blue after a little further research. I will post a few pictures of the restoration once I complete them.

Those are for sure Jensen's. Identical speakers used in the OPC 25's. I own a pair of the Jensen OPC 24's and 25's. Love those speakers. My favorite system! How do you like the tone of them?

I restored a pair of LS-5 previously and still own another set needing restoration. I like the sound of the LS-5 and that is the reason I searched for the LS-6 model. I'm not sure how they sound yet, but I plan to put the new surrounds on this week hopefully. I will provide an update when done.

Nice! I ask because I really love the Jensen tone from this time frame as. Jensen built both the speakers and cabinets for their speakers. I have the chance to purchase a pair of LS-5 for $40. I'm really considering them as They look so much like the OPC speakers Jensen have. I mentioned I own both the Jensen OPC 24 and OPC 25. I actually got the 24's first and passed on the 25's but went back and bought the 25's because the sound the 24's produced was amazing. I was right about the 25's just as amazing. I bet you will love the LS-6 just as much. I'm really interested to hear your comparison about the two. I have two Jensen's to compare of the same model.

If you like your 24 & 25 models I say pick up the LS-5's if they are in decent condition and all driver's are functional. That would also give you a chance to compare the different models. It will be difficult for me to compare the 5's to the 6's since they will not be restored any time soon, but I think I will be happy with the LS-6, plus they have wood veneer instead of the vinyl crap.

Yes I believe I will get them they look in decent condition and the woofers have ben done already just not the midranges. One has a really bad foam. That's nice they have the wood Veneer as that's exactly how the Jensen OPS 25's are. actual wood.. Looking forward to hear your experience.

bcbud3 yes I would love to see them all done. Excellent speakers.

I can no longer locate those Jensen LS-5's anymore.....The post was over two months old so it either was taken off or they sold. Kinda bummed as Jensens don't come around that often. At least none that I'm interested in. Lots of 90's crap comes around but their speakers were no good in the 90's.

Gotta resurrect this thread because I just got around to restoring a set of Jensen LS6B speakers and cannot find any information regarding the factory specifications????? Will post pics tomorrow and what I have done to mine if any interest.

Hey @devo391 that would be great. I really like to see other AK members restoration's. My problem is that I start restoration and start another one or two afterwards and the other project sits uncompleted. Mine are almost complete except for putting a new finish on them and new grill cloth. I expect to complete them in about a month, lol. The link below is for the LS-6, but the B version is close. Just sign up to be a member and you will have access to the site which has a lot of information on many pieces of gear.

A few pics of my LS6B project, one soft dome tweeter was toast and one L-Pad was toast, replaced two L-Pads and installed a pair of Mach Two tweeters and refoamed woofers and midranges. Woofer foam was a slight challenge because from what I understand no one makes a direct fit foam surround for this model so I had to attach them to top side of cone versus bottom as was original, when done it left the spider visibly compressed down, took a photo but cannot find it now?, despite that issue they sound great in fact way better than I would have been led to believe, never even looked at the crossovers but I probably should, the cabinets are beautiful after a littlle restaining new feet and some Scott's Liquid Gold, just need to shampoo the grills which are otherwise nice as is and someone will have a really nice pair of vintage speakers that look great and sound great. Pics are just what I snapped on my phone as I was moving along.

Just looked at the hifiengine link and while the driver configuration is the same mine are the "B" variation and have paper woofer cones not polyurethane and much smaller fabric soft domes vs the large mylar domes as depicted, now of course they are sporting aluminum domed tweeters but otherwise original and wonder what the factory specs were for the B model?

Here is woofer magnet, mine appear to be same but had plastic trim rings versus what looks like cardboard on yours, factory foam was green on both woofs and mids.20190122_100155.jpg
