Jensen PR 400 info/opinions wanted

I have already started. Cleaning this up was the first step. Complete waterproffing is next. My house was an inheritance and it was a real mess when I got it.

I'm sure I will post about it when it gets done. Hey that does sound good, "Purple's Man Cave Room of Sound". Hope you don't mind if I borrow it.

Yeah, ya know that whole beware of something for free. But just from the very small portion of what I've seen of the concrete, it looks great. And brother? Cleaning funky concrete ain't easy. Especially if it's down in a basement where getting any fumes and/or moisture out is a little tough.

Of course you'll be lining the walls with padded shag carpet, that's a must. Are you leaning towards a Plum Crazy Purple theme?

Purple's MCRS is all yours, absolutely!

It's a good home in a nice area, so doing some work to make it better is a good thing. The concrete you see in the pics was powerwashed once already. I'm going to build knee walls a foot or so in, and installing drain tile behind them. I got 400 block showing up tomorrow for this. Next will be an epoxy sealer on the floor and walls. I'm even adding a second sump pump just to be extra safe.

I didn't really want to put the Jensens (or anything else) down there since I'm still working on it, but I don't have any other place now to put them. I really need this space done for storage as well.

I think getting some drywall, carpet, ect. installed will sound much better. But as far as a purple theme...:scratch2: Sorry, no. The car and trailer are plum crazy purple and thats enough for me.

I am convinced these Jensens will be the stars down there when things get done though.

I've got a detached garage and have always had dreams of building it in to something similar. But it also must be used for some storage as well. And my step son has 2 drum sets in there at the moment, so there's that. The last part of this year I was able to make myself a decent work area for speaker restoration and even have a nice little run for speaker storage. It's got a concrete floor that needs some real work. I'd like to put an inside French Drain system around the perimeter with a sump, it really needs it. So, am hip to the idea of adding a second pump just to make sure. You've really got to make sure all your treasures and hard work are taken care of for the foreseeable future.

DrBiggles. I went over last night to purple1's place to check out a 60 FISHER Coronet Console he got for $1.00. Absolutely Gorgeous. He showed me the JENSENS with the 828, and I will say the Synergy between them is fantastic. They are clear, clean, with just a hint of shrillness with the volume up and the tone controls set to center. With the high filter in or the Treble tone control @ -2 the shrillness was tamed greatly. Fantastic sounding speakers and probably JENSENS shot across the bow to FISHER's XP-15's.

They had just arrived at a Habitat for Humanity “Restore Store” in Peoria, Illinois. I immediately let them know I was interested, but they were very dirty, and there was no way to check the drivers without removing the back panel. They were out the door and in my car for $40. Please believe that these are severely underrated and off the radar, but sound nothing short of outstanding! Great for a large room running a vintage solid-state Sansui receiver. I gave them to my best friend, who also admired them from the start. They sound wonderful in his large basement room. We gave them a good cleaning and refinishing with some Howard’s, and they look as good as they sound.

I just picked up a set of Jensen PR 400 speakers. They are in working condition. As a quick test I hooked them to a receiver and all drivers seem to work fine.

I have tried searching the site and google but not much info can be found for 1965 era Jensen speakers. Any info or opinions are welcome.

I have a 1964 Jensen catalog and it lists this speaker as its top of the line, selling at $297 each.
