JICO SAS Discontinued

But you said your were done... Pickering XLZ-7500 was the end of the line. Good thing you can delete your postings again.
 
This is very good news. In the JICO website thread Seth mentioned that the "Gen 2" SAS was under development but he didn't say anything else, no time frame or engineering details.

It occurs to me to wonder whether there will be broader availability for the New SAS, IOW more applications. Empire 2000Z or 2000T for instance.

Very much to the point. The old SAS design couldn't've been adapted to moving iron without a complete redesign. Let's hope SAS II will be moving-iron friendly.

The marketing term "reforged" gives us moving-ironists some hope.
 
It be great to see Jico stop distribution thru those retailers that felt it necessary to gouge buyers as the V1 SAS production ended Just my opinion. Don't expect to see that. Frankly can't understand why Jico is not just selling direct exclusively now that word of mouth has given them a solid reputation as well as a customer base.

Jico is NOT going to do that. Those other distributors make money for them.

Why is selling the last remaining parts on the planet at a premium price gouging? Supply and demand --- capitalism applies, even to the audio business. Look at the price of NOS vacuum tubes. I want to buy Telefunken 12AX7s at their base price from 1964 but no one will sell them to me.

If the order is accepted then later rejected but the unit is still available at a higher price that is not a good business practice. The customer should have been contacted with information about that instead of just cancelling a previously accepted order.
 
It would be nice if they finally made some stylii (including an SAS) for the AT100 body (AT120/440/150, etc).
 
I would assume they are going to be SAS diamonds with something other than Boron for the cantilever. I believe it was the use of Boron that became the reason to cease production? I would still buy one with a nice tapered aluminum cantilever, especially if they were cheaper!

Agree, if that happened it is bad. But raising the price for new orders due to scarcity is a normal business practice.

No need and they probably can't as AT still is making a ML tip. Just get a 440 or 150 styli for lower end AT'S.
